Bill

Bill

A Poem by Dayran
"

All that is possible.

"

Bill suspects that he always pretends

At heart, he believes he's just ten

Accustomed to walking with a cane

He's finally come to use his mane

Was taught a bunch as a youngster

That God's there in case of disaster

Loved the nursery rhymes in school

Figured they wouldn't say it, if not true

In the town that Bill's sheltered

People always said he's bewildered

But they loved the stories he'll spin

Of white rabbits and big cowardly jinns.

Bill wouldn't suppose to know

What the creator has come to show

When told that the knights are exemplar

Replied that he was a cranky fella

When the war came, he enlisted

Hit the enemy on the head when blistered

When asked, why he didn't just shoot the bugger

Bill replied that he was just a mugger.

At home in the mountains, its a little quiet

Everybody wishes for Bill's empty gestures

The stones in the graveyard, appear like it mattered

While Bill's in town getting his book edited.

Yesterday and yesterday and yesterday, the cockerel said,

We were once a mighty state.

When Bill came back, he hit it on the head

And lay down to dream on his big wooden bed.

My Dear Writing Friend,
You have painted with word brush strokes a unique word painting that pegged to be mused for hours. As I sat before my fire with tea and pipe in hand this write floated around my pneuma much like my pipes smoke inside my cabin. I pondered my life experience with those who were always on the fringes of community, but apart in their own peculiar sort of way. One has to ask are they the odd ones or are they actually the ones that the majority should emulate?
I was not familiar with your chosen word “jinn”, an excellent chosen word when understood giving this poem greater depth. I am sorry it took me so long to post my thoughts but I went to the Bush, a land of no hydro or internet.

Blessings, Laughing-Bear

jinn |jin| (also djinn or jinni |jiˈnē; ˈjinē|)
noun ( pl. same or jinns )
(in Arabian and Muslim mythology) an intelligent spirit of lower rank than the angels, able to appear in human and animal forms and to possess humans. Compare with genie .
ORIGIN from Arabic jinnī, plural jinn.

Wonderful. I absolutely love the last stanza.

I've a 'feel' for this piece... and a sadness for it as well. When you are gone, will any succeeding generation understand or appreciate your wit...OR realize you may have naturally used a homonym or even the lesser of a homograph. I've a sense of history and an exposure wide enough (I believe) without having a period's specialized degree.
Even spell check doesn't work when its a real recognized word mistakenly used.

The c**k crowed thrice... but Cockerell is a Surname. Anyway, even Bill has a venue all its own.

Take care,
Chris
