Inside OutA Story by DayranParadoxesIn any search for an understanding of the self … the individual faces … paradoxes … ironies … opposites … and the way reality switches to delusion … and vice versa. It makes for a coherent expression of the self … almost impossible. To-date our knowledge and insights of the human condition has been exactly that … a steep climb up the mountain of the gnosis … and thereafter … to encounter the mists of faith … that resembles … a certain field of all possibilities.
Curiously … that ought to do it. For creation no doubt began from a state of … all possibilities … and by the choices we made … brought us down the path … that we have journeyed to this point. To return to it … would certainly bring us back to the point of the start … before we made our choices … and before there was desire. But is it possible to experience something like that .. in the living … now? I'm certainly not having a problem with that!
If there is one reason I could cite … as instrumental in my continued understanding and expression of the experience … I would have to say … its my reckless over the top attitude … in getting into it … with both feet. I burnt my boats behind me. It reminds me of the WWE adverts that caution folks about … ' don't do this at home.' But it felt right … besides as I recall … I didn't have a great deal of choice in the matter. It was a fall … the size of which may have suited … God's angel himself.
The Vasudeva … in the Bhagavad Gita … refers to his own account of the experience … and defines it as a state of … the end of destiny. Loosely translated … of course it may mean … end of days. In advancing the view to its natural inclination … we find the curious suggestion that we are done with … monkeying around with our lives … and in achieving the perfection of the human condition … we are coming to the culmination of our evolutionary journey. We are entering into an opportunity … to know our self.
At a time like this … its relevant to ask ourselves … simply what have we been calling ourselves till now? What have we been saying about God? What do we believe is possible … and that which is not? Did we do that … to justify our actions? Rely on the sweet … to keep going? Separate ourselves into good and bad … and simply walk that one path … that we prefer? I'm thinking … we are going to look back at our past … like a fashion sense of the 20's … and laugh. A case of the … Bad Bard … who was a little over enthusiastic … about the tiny trinkets of wisdom … that he had found.
The Vasudeva's comment that .. ' the truth always is ' … appears to suggest that … life on earth … despite its warts and bizarre natures … is run from the position … of all possibilities. The suggestion carries itself … to add that … perhaps its managed by a collective will … much like the democratic process. But a starting point that resembles its end achievement … is differentiated simply by … our definitions of reality vs delusion … and that comes to many claims of authenticity by each man … wielding the light of his own belief.
Its hardly surprising therefore to encounter … the strangest of people … where the start and end meet. There's all manner of scoundrels … scalawags … holy men … who all claim to the light of their beliefs … sometimes with fervent love and hope. But I figure … these days we know all about that … and as a result bring an extraordinary caution … to the tests of our own beliefs. We even suspect ourselves of being too good … but not wise. But does it have to be this way?
I found in my own practice … some simple ways that each individual can … attests to his own approach to the position of possibilities. I started by pouring over the scriptures and writings of my own faith … and questioned everything. I'm quite certain that any faith … out there in the socio-religious circle … represents such a resource for an individual on the search. Start with the basic messages provided … by the faiths themselves. Contrary to what many may think … the prophets were not without a full set of resources … when they delivered their message to man … in their time. And it ideally suits the temperament of the man … in that faith.
Perhaps what might be new … in the re-discovery of our faiths … is the individual volition we bring to it … with eyes wide open. And that makes all the difference … in comparing ourselves to our former states of belief. The nature of the study … is of a quality of sweetness … unsurpassed in a man's flavor of experiences. He is reborn … and he knows what knowledge is. For our faiths and cultures … are the most vibrant representation of the natural propensity of our lives … provided to us with love and care for our natures.
Forget about sins … and the devil … and do it with both feet. For where you land is the house of the universe … in which every man … is a member. Say goodbye to your anxieties …. fears … and doubts … for you are the driver of your understanding … and it waits for you to lead. It will surprise you … and you will start to believe again. I've removed the expression … ' the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak ' … from my lexicon. Bad Bard! The flesh is stronger than most people think.
I don't much care anymore … for what the popular literature … says about the times we live in. The Hindus spoke of a … Kaliyuga where everything is destroyed. The Bible refers to the apocalypse. I'm sorry … I'm obliged to respond with … Bad Bard! In its place I see hope … and salvation for man … that prompts me to call this period we are in as … the Golden Age. And I know it because … I put myself to the test … with both feet.
