Siddharta

Siddharta

A Story by Dayran

The World of the Siddha

"

A verse in a Tamil song … on the death of a good man … goes as follows :

….......

He touched the sky before he left

He was a man of heart

Our love attachments weep

He was the earth of the believer

Our hopes now rests on the siddha*

To change our view of ourselves

Cry not my son the time will come

When night is over the dawn will begin.

…......

It must seem strange to many of us … that we can't remember who its was … or what it was that we lost. For the old … its probably youth … for the jilted … his lover … and for the child … his father. We must have thought they were going to live forever. But they also represent a point of universal experience in us … that continues to store itself … as a guide to our search for him. It means … whatever a person thinks he may have lost … is now guiding him … in search of himself. That must make us curious! Why does he seek himself?

In the movie … Everybody's All American … a star football player … marries his college sweetheart … but finds it difficult … to adapt to a society … whose orderliness and rules … stifles his natural creative sense … and destroys his personality. He tries hard to regain his form … and it works itself into an obsession … that denies and dismisses all else in his environment as less than real. The song above is an apt description of such a man's pursuit … but what did he lose?

A siddha … is a man of insight … who dwells into the realm of memories … the Indic refers to as the … cittas. His aim is to discover … the source of creation … and how it came to create him. He seeks his source. Its a tradition practiced by the Indics … from the days of the Puranas around 1500 bc. The word … Siddharta … which is also the name of the Buddha … means … the arts of the siddha. Such an individual … discovers the seat of creation … understands his role in respect of it … and applies himself … to its endeavor in the creative impulses of the world. I am assured that this goes on … all the time … in the world. But what are they laboring to regain?

A Siddha aspect … expresses itself in many ways. It is the dream of the lover … brought into persistent persuasion of the senses … the imagination of the artful … presented as a useful product to own … the style of a personality … that believes in the dream and product representation … the love of the mother … bringing make believe communication and smiles to the child … or the volition of the man … consecrated to service for God. And then … there's the man of knowledge … who applies his siddha … to understand the phenomenon of the Siddharta.

The title of … the greatest Siddha art … must certainly go to the … modern academic tradition. Its the very instrument in these times … for cultivating a sense of the tested and true. For the siddha commitment of the scientist is to pledge … that his knowledge is verifiable and may be tested for its validity. It relies on the proof of past knowledge … and claims to advance the knowledge … in a continuity of the experience of understanding. In this … science may have found that … its of greater value … to base themselves on product orientation … rather than the science of the life process. They leave that … to the men of insight … as in psychology theory and theoretical physics.

Everyone is in that way … a part of the creative effort. It organizes a way of life of the individual … that commits our mind … passion and bodies … for the accentuation of a certain Siddharta. We each create a specialization of our skills of the siddha … that in turn … identifies us … in a certain personality and way of life. Our speech is therefore … couched in a certain expectation of the Siddharta. And always … when we face a certain denial of our suggestions … it is experienced personally … down to the roots of our being. However in reconstructing the experience … we discover the nuts and bolts … of how we do it. This is what we seek to regain!

We therefore see two aspects of the arts … in our life's pre-occupations. The first is the art of survival … that relies on adaptation to its established environment. The second is the art of life itself … that places the minimum emphasis on survival … and expends itself to the … elements that support life … and their relation to the mind. They are all siddhas … and its not unusual to find … in nations that have sustained a climb to the heights of success … that they are having problems with their siddha of life. For mere success at survival … appears so small … when compared to the siddha of life … that provides meaning … and is the mother of the siddha of survival.

I met a fine old American gentleman one time … who was a devotee of Sai Baba … the Indic mystic and swamy. He told me a story of how he had wanted to quit smoking … and had secretly promised Baba … that he would. But he didn't. On a visit to Baba one time in India … Baba had caught him smoking and called to him with … ' Richard! … how many times have you promised me that you'll quit smoking?' And poor Richard turned to me with the eyes of the believer … as if … that proved that Baba is God. In my mind … it was simply the high siddha arts of the swamy … in understanding the process of devotion.

Undoubtedly … the siddha of survival relies on the siddha of life … to prop him up … because he is yet unable to develop his own life siddha. Its my view that the survival aspect relies on … the ionization in the blood … to cultivate responses to productive activity. The life aspect relies on the blood itself … and its relation to the body tissues … especially after the ionization effect has lost its bi-polar dependency. They bear a close relations with each other … and defines the experience of the loss of faith. But in a positive relation to the environment … it feels like we can do … just about anything!

* siddha ... a man who practices the path of the ascetic to achieve the knowledge of the creative energies.                         Commonly applies himself to the healing arts ... and social support.

A very insightful piece of literature! I particularly liked the Tamil song.
You carry this heavy bits of wisdom, my friend. Self discovery, recreation - always the goal of an individual at one stage in their life.
I'll have to read this again, my friend. Brilliant!

Wow Dayran! Another good peace, leaving goose bumps as I read every line. There are times when I question many of the things that I do, but I know that while I have made a choice others haven't made any. Therefore I must press on undoubtedly towards siddha to gain more understanding of where this knowledge comes from. Creativity is a gift if looked at in similar light as art, something that allows us to express ourselves. Further as we create we release knowledge of ourselves, sometimes even more than intended. I is there where I believe we grow and achieve greater knowledge of the creative energies which you wrote about. Dayran please keep on writing these passage of knowledge and you very well be the siddha, I here declare you "Knowledge Giver" Thank you Dayran!
