And God Created Man

And God Created Man

A 7 day Genesis Plan

"

The seven days of Genesis … is a remarkable statement of the discernment … in the mind of man … about how creation began. I mean … if a bard wanted to bring to the faithful … the beginning of life in the universe … he could have done a better job … than a ' to do ' list of stuff God did. But he left it there … plain … and in some ways boring … as an account of something so incredibly important. But I'm thinking … he had a good reason for doing that.

Of course I've had trouble placing the date of publication of the Old Testament … and based on indications … I have come away thinking whoever wrote the new Testament … went back a little into the background … and did something he called the old. Its a significant indicator … for it means … that the bard … contemplated carefully on the art of creation … and then brought it down to quill … as a play of life he saw in himself.

We like to think that the crucifixion … was a tragic event … and it raises our anxieties constantly … to pick up a copy of the Bible … each time with a view of what transpired on that day on Calgary. But the notion … that a bard … like the bards of the Puranas … sang songs … danced … drank some wine … and brought their insights onto paper … is more likely to be the event … that was the pre-amble to the writing of the Bible. Its what authors say sometimes … about throwing in a dead body … for good effect. It draws on the belief and empathy.

Its like the Scoppes trial in the US … when the question of how snakes moved … was brought up in court … before God was reported to have condemned them to crawl. The question of how man … came to intuit the first seven days of creation … only holds … if we create the subscription to the idea … that it was the word of God. Otherwise … we are brought to view a man … in a long beard … who rationalized the experience of creation … based on the birth of the mind in man.

It is the clear separation of mind … in the man … from the other instruments of his faculties. A man can sit by his window today … and dutifully … separate his mind … from his dreams … and call it good … as the first day of creation. And then on the second day … he can bring himself to view the stars … and the earth. By the third day … he'll find himself simply the observer … as his mind starts to take in the trees and fishes. On the fourth … he's fighting his impulses … as the animal emerges … and threatens to wipe out his rationale conjuring of events. But on the fifth … the man emerges … and puts his foot down … to claim his re-enactment of the events as simply the natural laws that he's applying himself to.

On the sixth day … his eros energies turn their attention to sex … and the woman emerges in his disposition of the self. Its conjecture … but like singing hymns in church … it gladdens the heart of the man … to think … that he has always been a part of the creation exercise. Its like the motivational videos we come across … that promises to put our lives back on track. This works better … and its about time we did something like this … with the God given fortitude … given to man. It serves the purpose of life.

I figure the bard was a Jew. It explains why the Jews never quite embraced Christianity. It was their inspiration … and labor of love … for mankind. It was their gift to the cause of humanity … and they couldn't possibly be thought to be able to bring their worship to it as theology. It reminds me of the day … I stood in a park … and felt the ground … trees and sky … float in the wake of my perceptions. I seem to recall saying that … ' Its probably something like this … I mean something from the mind of man.'

And so the question of why have we lost our faith today … ought to be viewed from a different perspective … than what we grieve over … make rage … or want to leave the world behind. We don't seem able to do it anymore. Would be tough isn't it … given the intensity of our doubts … our suspicions … and the ever playful sense … of comfort … we have come to have about life. I mean … isn't it going to make it all look … like we made it up ourselves?

Is a creative sense … we engage to write poems … books … screenplays … confined to something … merely ' I think it might be like that.' Doesn't that also extend to … creation itself? And life? We can't see ourselves as the very people who set and determine our destinies? Not even … after we have learnt to do heart transplants … embryo implants … genetic engineering … and 3D printed replacement of body parts? Has the burden of conscience been too much?

I'm re-enacting … the seven days of Genesis this week … and today I'm doing man. Guess what? I don't think its a funny suggestion … that the memory of our creation experience … may lie dormant in us. Its something the Indics have constantly been referring to in their texts … and I figured I'll put myself through the exercise. I'm starting to believe. And I made contact with someone in the creative energies … I call Shane … who intimates to me … that he always thought it was that way. Shane used to go by another name. Shame.

It explains why … we sometimes have this compulsion to think … that its just … me and a friend … who live this outrageous suggestion about … our oyster of the world and universe. But it deserves a closer look. There's more to that which meets the eye. We need something more to see it with. We need to rediscover ourselves … and set us on the road to enlightenment. We need to substitute the fear of sin … with the plain facts. Its how I expect he rested on the seventh day.
