The Tenth ManA Story by DayranAn OverhaulFor a while … I was caught up with puzzles and crosswords … and would buy the mags … that featured them. But in attempting to describe the concept I have cultivated of the tenth man … I find it goes beyond puzzles … into an area of riddles. And I hate riddles. Its nice to hear them in a song … or in quotes … and it appeals to a sense of the … ridiculously sublime … but it makes no sense.
I remember a quote from Time magazine … some years ago … that carried a report on a nation in turmoil in Africa. The caption read … ' Trying to fit a three sided solution to a four sided problem.' Its synonymous with thinking … that the apple in the picture is as real as the one on the table … or in trying to believe our life is perfect … we transpose our dream on it … whether or not it fits. In dealing with it … we have to go for what psychologist sometimes refer to as a paradigm shift.
A songwriter who is inspired to write a song … participates in a process … of mind and heart … that involves the collective instruments of many parts of the human constitution. No doubt the song writer plays a part in the process … and relates to these instruments. In creating an awareness of it … he works better with all the instruments … to continue with his artistry. Keeping it simple helps.
In the Indic thesis of development of the mind … they point to ten stages that man has gone through … in the course of our historical development. Its a lived experience … and refers to the way we have undertaken the necessary experience … for the cultivation of a mind of reason and logic … at the tenth stage. However … the pre-requisite is for the individual to create a determination … that … all the knowledge already gained over the years … are founded on passions … not mind. He needs to pull the plug on that.
In doing so … he lends himself to have that knowledge proven false … and thereafter to rebuild … his knowledge based on his own volition and learning … test them … apply them … and assess the results. It amounts to re-making the man … or the mind of the man … and along with that his passion and other instruments. No doubt he retains a large part of the knowledge of the past … but he does so with his volition of the issues … gained in a new understanding and insight into the nature of the past experiences.
He also converts that knowledge … into the terms and expressions of the present time … up-dates them for new developments … and creates cognizance of the changing physical representations … that relates to past passions. Lastly … he is also converting that knowledge from celt images … or dreams … into a representation of the physical world … the universe … and the nature of the man. All these makes for a curious relation with the proponents of the knowledge of the past.
Fundamentally … the man places himself in the center of the universe … or the creation endeavor … not God or anyone else. This introduces a purpose to his thoughts … decision making and actions … that are consistent with thinking. It creates a slight gap … between himself and his social associates. And what his friends consider as knowing him … is a view they create about him … and seldom describes him accurately. No doubt his friends … base their own personality as the basis … for that view.
This was illustrated recently … in the break and patch up of the relationship between the writers … V.S.Naipaul and Paul Theroux. It illustrates in some way the workings of the Pythia concept … regarding the self of individuals … and the so-called self of all. There is as much a gap with the revelations of the Bible … or the prophecies of Nostradamus. They represent a separate level of perceptions … and leave something to be desired in the translation.
There are folks I sometimes come across … who may have chosen to dismiss a wide section of their society … from any association with them. This may extend itself to communities in other parts of the world. That illustrates the nature of mind … that thinking and self volition brings to a man. Atheists for instance reject the God idea. However I found in my own growing understanding that … the belief in God is vital for thought to take place. Also I find that the world's communities … all together add up neatly … to a collective expression of the nature of man.
My progress so far has played a considerable part … in ensuring that the nature of my personal experiences … are coherent and clear to my understanding. Its an area of shadows … magic … divinity … ghosts … anima … tech … children and women. Its been a great relief to come to understand the nature of its contents … and to bring that into my association and acceptance. I find in its expression … the imperative need that the evolution zeal brings to a man to do so.
I wish I could create an expression … that's consistent … with illustrating the point of view … in a knowledge based thinking man. I'll say this … ' the world is perfect ' … ' every man creates a reliance that is finally related to the truth of things ' … ' we are all related to each other in a design of achievement that is mutually supportive ' … and … ' every one of our lives are lived in the anticipation of such an achievement.' And I expect that there may be many … many … more ways of saying that.
The Tenth man is viewed a certain way … while we are working our way to get there. Once there … its gonna be entirely different. For in getting there … we engaged a relational reference to the experience … we didn't know what it entailed exactly … and we engaged our ambition like a career option. But once there … its not the dreams … the expectations … or the love. It is the life.
