Holy Interruptus!

Holy Interruptus!

The Rival to Sex

"

Its not uncommon to encounter times … in which we experience … a total harmony … in the way our bodies relate to mind … and to the external environment … in our proximity. It does that with a certain innate understanding of what … each thing is. We are then … put in a situation of being surprised that we know … and raises quite an astonishment in us. Its the experience … that is sometimes referred to by poets as … ' in peace everything is possible.'

I used to think … its an experience … that the Vatican refers to as … ' the Holy See ' … but have shied off telling people that. The Vatican … and the Christian ethic … carries that notion of the … ' knowledge that comes from peace ' … to tremendous heights of seriousness … and may cause quite an intimidation in people .. regarding their subscription to faith. The fact is … ' the Holy See ' … or ' the possibilities of peace ' … are a profound experience in the human condition … from which all else is sourced in our activities.

It therefore takes … a great deal of management … to engage existing artifacts of worship … that has become firmly entrenched in the minds of people. It involves the duty … to first put it in perspective … explain the basis of the experience … account for its role in institutionalized faith … and the same time … bring about a rational and reasoned understanding of its place in human pathology.

However in the individual experience … man's concern is not the validity of the institutionalized practice of the ' Holy See.' There is another feature of the experience … that concerns the sexuality of the human … that is also related to the experience of the ' Holy See ' … that the man can address in his attitudes. And this concerns the matter of … sexual interruptus … and the man's responses to it.

How many times has a husband been in engagement of the sexual act with the wife … when the sound of the child crying in the next room … or the phone … reaches their ears. She takes off … to attend to it … and the man … experiences a sudden cooling of his ardor … that carries connotations of … a block to desire. Its a feeling of being robbed ... a slap in the face of love … and the threat on the male ego. All these from the inappropriate timing of interruptus.

And its here … that we find the strange case of a connection … between something pleasurable and joyful … and the curious relation to the experience of true faith. Its a crunch … a punch in the belly of approval … and it brings into consideration … a ton of issues … that's all rolled into one … the size of the Himalayas. It tears out the guts and replaces it with powder … and it feels a little like what happens … when Thor brings his mighty hammer down on a man.

And yet … what we find to be true … of the situation is simply … a pause in the ardor that we experience … and the simple need to continue it a while later … without incident. And why can't we do that? What is the relation a man has with the promise he has brought to the eros impulses … and what does it intimidate him thereafter on the issues? Is he hiding a secret? Managing a contrivance? Simply juggling his balls … without a plan … and its caught him … on a failure to complete?

Our faith … in connection with our thoughts … actions … and decision making … relies on the assumption that we know what we are doing. Any interruptus … on the free unimpeded flow of the action … raises an inquiry about the validity of our choices … and decision making. We encounter that all the time … based on an expectation that we know what we are doing … without actually having tested the thesis.

Our achievement in the human experience … persuades us to stop relying on expectations … that form a part of the eros impulses … but instead to rely on what we actually see and do … even if that means admitting to ourselves that we don't know. It prevents the occurrence of the dreaded interruptus … and leaves the mind to respond with equanimity in any situation. Its the mark of the professional … the proverbial man of action … who doesn't ignore the eros impulses … but engages them … to understand.

Its the significance of the legend of Ulysses. Having been separated from Penelope … he doesn't lie down and die. He goes through the throes of the interruptus … and removes his dependency on it. Thereafter … he raises himself … to understand the conditions surrounding his position … and enacts the responses needed to return to her and society. It is the makings of the hero.

But along the way … we build a mountain of excuses … defenses … and avoidance … to prevent ourselves … being trapped in the quagmire of the interruptus.  The only way we rise from that … is by denying our reliance on a notion of … ' knowing ' … or to base our hopes on expectations. In doing so … we come to rely on ourselves … our senses … and our own view of situations … and to verbalize that clearly in our expression.

The average man in society … is not prepared in any way … to take on the mighty force of institutionalized faith … but he can seek to improve his understanding of its tenets. He can share with its concerns to be of greater help to people … make clear its message … and to deliver on its promises. In doing so … we bring our common sense nature to the experience … and there to meet with the Holy See. It then takes over to guide the man in his understanding.
