The Function of Relating

The Function of Relating

Its a mathematical function … as in … a is a function of ( 2x3 ) … represented in the formula … a = f (2x3). The numerals … 2 and 3 … are described as full integral numbers … or simply put … they are valid whole definitions … that represent a value. However … a … on the other hand is an unknown quality … and is entirely dependent on the values … computed by the relation of … 2 and 3.

The formula may be engaged to point to qualities in us … that are dependent on the relation or interaction … between other values. In the reports of the death of James Dean … the media … created references to beautiful women (b) … fast cars (c) … abundant wine ( w ) … and a rebellious attitude (r). Hence the cause of death (d) … came to be viewed as … d = f ( b+c ) x w divided by 1/r … in a determination where beautiful women and cars are not in themselves killers … but when made catalytic by wine … in a normal person … is indicative of a high risk situation. Divide that by an inverse relation to rules … owing to an attitude of rebelliousness … and it suggests the makings of a tragedy.

I have not always been fond of the mathematical view of situations … much less … in the way that its brought to a depiction of life. But I've been toying with the idea … of representing the human mind … in its relation to the world … in a mathematical equation … and came up with something rudimentary in numbers. This is obviously not going to win a prize in … this age of rocket science … but I thought it might be useful … as a way of managing the mind's own needs … to create … ' quick takes ' … on big issues.

This is what I came up with. In determining the state of the mind of an individual … in normal circumstances … (M) … we apply that as a function of 5 other factors … in the world's experience. These 5 factors may represent the 5 senses … or the 5 different cultural profiles of people in the world. The view assumes that … all the 5 different people … relate to a one individual view of the world … but are at this time … divergent in their qualities … owing to their interaction with each other.

Hence the equation … M = f ( A " B ) + ( B + B )( A " B ) + ( B " A )(A " B ) + ( A + B ) + ( a " A )(A " a ). A and B … represent the whole integer … 1 … as in all of the mind. As the mind divides itself into two … I figure it'll come to rest on the principle of balance. Hence the value of A and B … would eventually arrive at 0.5 each.

In the next category … ( B + B ) … a split part of the mind … relates to itself as a reflection of its former self … bringing itself to the whole experience of … 1 … in a manner that might lack authentic experience … or is reliant on self gratification … as self defense. However owing to its unauthentic nature … it relies on the original event … ( A " B ). This represents a quality of the mind … or … as I have come to perceive … is evident as attitude in one social group … in the world's experience.

In the third category … the split quality … B … responds by subtracting A … from its experience. This is expected to be normal in people … and is representative of Newton's principles. However … in depicting B's responses to A … we notice a prior event … in which A … dismissed B. Hence ( B " A ) is presented as a function of ( A " B ).

The fourth category … portrays the much needed factor of stability in the overall relation of qualities … and brings itself to simulate the original relation of A and B … as one. Hence … ( A + B ) is a contrived sense of behavior to simply … bring a calm to the storms … and is acted out … as a social decorum.

In the fifth category … B splits away from the relation entirely … and goes on to form a new view of mind … that is expected to return someday … and proposition the mind for a new specie experience of our inherent whole nature. However … in the meantime … A undergoes a transformation to a child … represented by a lower quality … a … and engages in a relation … that is mutually supportive of each other. This is represented by the relation ( a " A )(A " a ) … where ( A " a ) is a previous act of dismissal of the child qualities by the adult … A.

The conversion of complex philosophical treatises … into equations … representative of their content … is an important part of the human experience … and our societies have relied on them as a quick view on situations. It enables planning … and implementation of policies … consistent with our perceived needs. And for all those people who make a commitment to such an undertaking … it is important … to summarize the qualities … we engage … as a formula to guide their views.

However … in another part of the world's experience … man has always been obliged to tests the thesis … by his own life lived … and to derive his understanding … on the basis of such equation based views. The creation endeavor … does exactly that … in the experience of the being. As man … and as a student of human nature … we can come to affirm the experience … that our minds were guided by an equation … arising from the workings of the qualities of mind. It is only much later … that we are tasked with making sense of our past actions … and bring it into coherent social expression.

Such mathematical functions … that we have come to observe … implies an acceptance (+) … dismissal (-) … function of ( f ) … and others … are indicative of human behavior … in the context of application … of mind based instrumentation … to the passions. Certainly the women have been most … helpful in the way … they have contributed to the task. It refers to the tremendous scope of mind … in its survival orientation … but making sure … that we don't miss out on having a little fun in life.

In the social context … the mathematical term … a function of … translates into relating … to other qualities in our environment. We might do that in spoonfuls … or in buckets. However we cannot ignore the all important need to convert into social skills. It is imperative to the health of the man … the preservation of his tissue experience … our need to procreate … and advance the specie into the future. And that … as they say on TV … is how science began.

Note : The minus function has been substituted for " by the WC program in the above passage.
