A Hershey BarA Story by DayranGiving vent to whimI thought it impossible. And for a long time … I denied the possibility. Yesterday I allowed my mind to consider the issue … and came away quite shocked. It was the realization that a mind that is entirely drained of rationality and logic … views the actions it encounters as produced by magic. Certainly in some cases … they cultivate it with a belief in the divine. But when we lose our faith … the mind is observed to eventually slide into thoughts of magic.
Its a new experience for me … and I can't bring much to it … that is in someway validated by my living experience. However I can relate to it … on the basis of the totally unrealistic expectations I had as a child … without any relation to the physical reality of situations. And when I came to realize that … I was aghast with what I had come to place my faith in. That was the start of my search for rationality in human affairs.
The magic in man … appears to be handled by someone resembling a mother goose … a wiccan … or a divine personality. They are extremely sensitive to polite behavior and find it hard to respond to strong male types … who are willful. They rely on large consumptions of sugar … and would explain why the Indic population in Malaysia experiences a high per capita incidence of diabetes. And quite often … they cause a lack of attention to studies.
I've always been moderate with my diet … being careful to watch my sugar intake … lest the mind slips into magic. So I thought I'll treat myself to a Hershey bar recently … simply on a whim. The effect it caused can only be described as horrendous. It shut down my mind … caused a headache … and severe pains in the body. It lasted a few hours … and when it stopped … I became aware that my willful disassociation with magic was revived … and it brought me to study its nature and work in the man.
From all that I've been able to determine about the development of the human experience … magic has always been a part … of man … and expressed itself in the early worship of the sun and totems … that relate to their personality … particularly anima. What man appears to have encountered in recent times … is some peculiar issues in managing that with the growing knowledge of the humanities … especially reason and logic.
It appears to me that the folks who call themselves atheists … have also severed their relations with magic … and bring themselves to a greater reliance on reason. In my own experience … I have always maintained a relations with God … and find myself in that way influenced in my thoughts on the human condition … based on the legends of the Gods … that I find to be consistent with science and the physical nature of man.
It appears plain that … any one taking to the study of reason and logic … will come into contact with magic … as the instrument in the early development of man. Obviously each one of us … brings their own approach to it. The Indic tradition … that I was raised on brought to us the wonderful stories of Krishna and Siva … and persuaded us that they can do anything because they are divine. That message … implied a blind faith … without any encouragement to learning … the physical limitations that a man has to accept about himself. Too often the devotee … aligns himself with the God idea … and ignores social norms or the physical environment of the world.
In the search for answers … a man must come to be clear … about the way he expresses his individual will in life. Where he is likely to deny anything divine or magical … he is likely to be like a … cat on a hot tin roof … that creates a rejection of everything … and cannot bring a reconciliation with forces we yet don't fully understand. And sometimes … where we pronounce that all the answers are in science … we find ourselves committing a grave error of omission … with regards to our hurt pride and free will.
In overcoming my own injuries on the issues … from the past … I came to discover something very sweet about magic … and how it sometimes works with mind and reason to discover an optimum way of life. However it takes considerable practice to come to terms … with the nature of magic … especially when we have devoted ourselves to reason and rationality … in the life of the male individual.
The association that magic creates with women … and the feminine qualities … sometimes shows itself in a disparity even with women. I sometimes watch with an incredulous view … the actions and speech of women … that appears to convey their problems with managing magic. Its clear to me that … its not about magic alone … or reason … that we depend on … for our life's needs … but a mix. And certainly … in understanding that mix … we come to a contentment that is rare in life.
There's obviously a great deal more to the experience … as a universal experience of possibilities … particularly as regards the life force and specie development. Certainly the birthing experience brings much … in the appreciation of the miracle of life … but understanding magic would take more than merely the mother role. It does take a serious study of science … the guides of the prophets … and the involvement of the individual … in a volitional and conscious understanding.
In my opinion … our civilization experience will not be complete … without understanding the place of the divine and magic … in our lives. A clear discernment of the difference in man … would be an important criteria in the way we practice our ethics … in our daily life. Magic is certainly not reason … and the folks who view that as being the same … are doing a tremendous disservice to themselves. It denigrates the beauty of magic … and decorum in reason. © 2015 Dayran |
