An Affirmation of the SelfA Story by DayranArchetype ManOn the occasions when it occurs to us … that our passions are misguided … we bring our mind of knowledge to manage it. Its obviously done with the best of intentions … and in the spirit of a common purpose … served by the life. Quite often we succeed … and the passions express an appreciation … that is quite profound. But it would make for a great marriage of wills … if the mind realized that … it is sharing its understanding with the passions … not substituting for it.
The Japanese conquest of the countries in Asia in WWII … came to be viewed as an attempt … to bolster solidarity among neighbors … who's way of life … was being altered and transformed by … the colonial powers of the west. No doubt the West themselves … were persuading themselves that they brought modernization … to the ancient kingdoms in Asia. What remains as historical fact … in these countries today … is the mix in values … between East and West … that has become the mainstay of life.
The ambitions of nations derive themselves from the understanding of man … and is founded on his knowledge and passions. It may have began in a pre-empire situation as simply the qualities of sky and earth … that we encountered in our daily lives … to which we formed an enduring sense of appreciation and devotion. The way that we must have filled that world … with the events of our lives … and its expectations … would have created the promises for the future.
In travelling to other shores … for a sharing of faith and ideals … it must have helped us to fill the promises that we envisaged. It took us away from the tiny provincial nature of our lives … and transformed it into something defining of a creator God … and his purpose on earth. In doing so … we added meaning to our lives and the societies in which we lived. Man had become more … in the way we extended ourselves to the rest of the world.
Our knowledge and contact with the world … returns to us today … as a reflection of man … in his individual and social natures. It gives us much to pursue as our understanding of ourselves. Embracing its scope of diversity … is the man himself … as the self … who views everything … and brings a relation of himself to specific events and activity … that has gone before … undertaken in the name of our fathers and their fathers.
It creates a center occupied by the archetype man … surrounded by a diversity of his forms … according to color … personality … attitude … and way of life. The life connects to all of them … and brings the mind's volition to identify common areas of identity … our concerns … and cares. In a timeline of the world … we identify with the forces that helped shaped our common destinies … in the sharing … relationships … and forming of perspectives of each other.
This experience is the world to many of us … as we seek to add to our knowledge of the world's society … in our linkages through the web and other sources. Its the attitude we bring to our children … in these times … of life … and the various ways of people around the world. Its the way … one man shapes and forms … his perspective of the world … and comes to understand his place in it.
In doing so … we create the opportunity to separate the qualities of man … from the elements … the anima … and the Gods. We see in ourselves the quintessential qualities of the individual … half filled with passions and mind. We see the work we do … the skills we bring to it … and the growth that we foster with the people we come into contact with. Its our duty in life … its the reliance the world creates on every individual … for his qualities.
Our mystery as the human … awaits our endeavors to fill its blank pages … with that which we have come to observe and learn about ourselves. In doing so … we see ourselves as a part of humanity … playing our part … for its contribution and growth. No doubt each of us brings a special something … as our specialization of qualities … to the common pool of man. With that … human society grows to reach its full potential … and fulfills its expectations of the life.
As I write this … my passions respond to its appeal of generalities … the overview that it creates … soothes the senses … and the self simply basks in its affirmation. Its feels nice to be able to do that … without too close an adherence to facts … and rationale … to support the claims of expression. In doing so … it confirms the qualities of the passions … that we once expressed ourselves in such simple ways … of its relation to mind. It makes contact with the child within.
And it serves to remind ourselves … that a mind doesn't lord it over the senses … but in bringing its contribution to the passions … we also learn to relate to it and draw from it … its many qualities. It makes for a friendship … and the understanding that we share our lives together. Its curious to think that in our early advancement into the experience of civilization … we exalted the mind over and above all else.
Its equally curious to think that … the mind learnt to do that … from the way the passions … related to the individual … from an earlier time. How it must have filled our hours with faith … belief … the right and wrong of things … and to engage our constant commitment on the issues. Our experience of liberty … is surely the opportunity to examine these issues on our own … and to create the realization that knowledge exists … but not in one thing only. © 2015 Dayran |
