A Pot of WonderA Story by DayranWeedI'm referring to marijuana … cannabis sativa in scientific terminology … with that THC component … that creates the magic carpet ride for the user. WHO classifies it as a non-hallucinogenic and non-addictive … but prolonged use of the stuff is reported to cause a psychological dependency. I was a user for about 10 years … through school … college … and early career. I thought the effects were basically catalytic … and simply accentuated the state of mind of the individual … not much more.
All of us experience a certain musing of the passions … but its at a subtle level … and not part of our daily conscious awareness. However when we smoke some marijuana … it produces a mild stupor … that minimizes our focus on the physical surroundings … and brings us into contact with a subtlety in the passions … that doesn't pause for cognitive understanding … or judgement … but glides through every suggestion of the passions … with an affective quality … and in close identification to its qualities.
I recently picked up a stick … from the students around here … and for a while went back to examining its effects. It did nothing! I could feel the muscles somewhat relaxed … but beyond that it brought on a lethargy and boredom. As regards its ability to enhance the subtle … I found that my normal state of mind was more and in my normal state … I had learnt to relate better … be more focused … and create a better cognitive relation to stuff I come into contact with.
It did however bring a new indication of the relation between the passion and mind … that I found significant. I had in the normal course of study … created an attitude about knowing … and in relation to my years of the miasma experience … I had been holding it up for adulation. It bridged the gap … and persuaded me to view the two parts of my experience … not with an attitude … but in a discovery of common identity … seamlessly … like one is simply a restatement of the other.
I saw the passions for what they are … in their cognition of themselves. They bring a close association with the sensual natures … food … an orientation to be merry … but are uncomfortable … in formal situations … or taking the trouble to groom … or to speak in an informed manner … on issues. It related with a special fondness to nature … and I wondered if it was an experience of the idle anima natures. It gave me an opportunity to compare that with … what I believe is normal human qualities … and observed the difference in its personality … from that of man.
It produced a surprising find … as regards their relationship. If we took the position that the mind and the passion … had always enjoyed a certain relations with each other … from our early days of civilization … there's no doubt that the passions experienced a greater efficiency … in their cognitive self understanding … in comparison with mind. And if that had … persuaded the passions … that the mind was similarly harmonious in their relations … then the passions had over extended their confidence … on the issue.
In the course of civilization … the mind of man … has always sought to know itself. It endeavors to do that through the learning … the organization of societies … and our advancements in science. It appears possible that the mind broke from the passions … to cultivate its own sense of identity … and where this may have referred to the relations between the genders … its indicative of the schism that came to rest between them.
The Indics and the Greeks … create an account of the view of such a passion … in their references to the legends of the Gods. Situated up in the clouds … Siva used to receive guests such as Narada … the celestial musician … whose devotion to music … must have raised him … to such lofty heights of the Gods in heaven. There Narada … would relay the condition of mankind … and beseech the Gods for help … to overcome the hurdles faced.
Is there such an condition facing the mind of inquiry … as we make contact with the subtler parts of the passion? It would create the opportunity for man … to explain his actions in the past … when he may have broken off their relations … to establish a greater application of mind in human affairs. No doubt the passion understands the rationale for doing so. Then all it takes … is for us to come to a moment of sharing of common concerns … in order to patch an old bruise.
A healing of the passion … at this point would involve a manner of understanding the compromises … it had made on account of man. And where such compromises are cloaked in sympathy … love … understanding … and the recognition of our common union … it would throw up all manner of guises … and possibly not even realize the source of whence it came. The mind must be prepared … and be able to apply itself … to such conditions … and not dismiss it at the first aberration.
Our lives are lived with a re-enactment of such relations … from the days of youth … to that of the old geezer. I remember a conversation with my mother … when she was going on about the need to go to school … learn … and so forth. My impulse at that time … was to wonder at what she thought I was going to be. ' I'm right here ' … I heard a curious voice speak in my disposition … but kept the comment to myself. In relation to what I know today … that voice came from the passions.
And what if any is the attitude of the passions … to the mind that has come into cognition of its own identity? ' I forgive you ' … was one response I received. And hopefully … we are in a position to trade some wisdom … and common sense between the two of us. We are both defined by a certain decorum … with regards to our personalities … and we are keeping a straight line … on what we feel or think about issues. Its the ultimate reunion … and we both know its going to take a while. © 2015 Dayran |
