VaingrowA Story by DayranThe temple of the bodyHere's a bit of work … from an American bard in recent times … who brought to us a personality … that we are starting to understand better. He introduced him … in the the movie ' Heat ' … with Robert De Niro and Al Pacino. His name is Vaingrow* … and he is a murderous maniac … who can't relate to anyone … and probably thinks … he should be running things … in the life of the society. Its a marvelous bit of artistic cognition … of the forces in our lives … and on closer examination … creates quite a stir … in things new.
Vaingrow … as the name suggests … refers to the period of growth of the physical body … from birth … to a point around 21 years of age … when the physical growth is arrested. It refers to cell division in the body … taking place at an intense pace … on the tissue … bones and organs. It produces an impact on the mind … thats indicative of reaching out to one's full development … and carries with it every promise of accomplishment of its goals.
On full development .. it has the personality of a Buddha … that relates to itself … in its physical form … as the temple of the body. The Indics … came to a perception of it in our mind and passions … and inquired into its intrinsic qualities of … ' self knowledge.' In a subsequent development … it evolved into the Sankhya system of knowledge … and relies on self contemplation … not activity … as its tool of personality.
The cognition of such a quality in man … named as the Buddha … arose in our social practices … in the 7th C bc … at about the same time that … Hesiod was bringing out his views of life … in the wonderful legends of the Zeus family. The Zeus aspect of the experience … and the Herakles factor … rose to prominence in Western practices … and is today … the background to much of what is displayed … in the human condition in the west.
It receives a powerful emphasis … when coupled with a good height and size of individual. The potential strength of such a physical nature … and the secure manner of thought and expression … is a function of such a disposition. It leads to an easy identification of the profile of the individual. He is strong … is endeared to causes … seeks to protect the weak … and gets himself passionately involved in world issues … of fairness and right conduct in all matters.
Today the concerns for human rights … in the world arena … sources itself primarily from such an attitude. And while its a great addition to the … efforts at world governance … it unfortunately lacks the subtlety … of mind and passion … or the savoir faire … in the affairs of the heart. It bases itself as merely the impetus … for what may be viewed as the … self love phenomenon … that was first highlighted in the experience of the Greek Gods … as a distant dream to be achieved … but lacks the details of how its going to do that.
But we inquire into whether it has evolved in some way … in the recent years … on account of the imperatives of civilized culture. There are considerable factors … in the stew at this time … that may hold surprising results … when they come … into full blossom. Among these … is the possible renewed emphasis on common sense … beyond the technocratic efficiency … of what the numbers are saying … with regards to social organization.
That would indeed be an achievement … in the final refinement of the Vaingrow experience. Long denied what he always felt was his rightful place in society … we expect that the Vaingrow personality … will find new ways of applying himself to thought … away from the obsessional nature of attachment to physical activity. It is reflective of the view … of progeny … that when they created man … they had arrived at last … to the height of perfection … in the instruments of creation.
Today … in the literature and the slogans of our social practices … we come across the term … the realization of the dream. In retrospect … it appears … that the Indic Puranas … the legends … were undertaken on the basis … of the management of celt … or the visions of man … that sought to form a guide to social development. It is not to be translated as direct physical activity. The remarks of commentators … on the Mahabarata … sometimes refer to it … as an event that took place in the psycho-social mind of the individual … and is not an actual physical event.
From such powerful suggestions … of the mind … we arrive at our modern societies today … to inquire into what is physical achievement … and what is the role of visions of the past. A clear discernment on this … would be of incalculable help … to many people … to dismiss the imperatives of the dream … and focus on the practical natures … of physical activity … in the daily life of the man.
If the issue is delicate … its on account of the feminine mystic … that is strongly associated with dreams … and yet borders on the physical in our lives. To deal with that … we need a renewed appreciation of dreams … and then to take to physical activity … as our new expression of the man. Herakles … the great hero … was assigned to serve Hippolyta … the Amazon queen … for a period … to understand the discernment between the two.
Its the awe … we feel … while in the experience of the temple of the body … that breeds its own Vaingrow … as regards itself. He's a companion to the man … but there's a price to his admiration of the man. It burst into expressions of being displaced … jealousy … and the potential to injure someone … who crosses him. To move on … the man puts down Vaingrow … takes a fall … from the lack of self praise … and reworks the principle. In that we come to a new understanding of the role of bias … in our lives.
