Beware of BearsA Story by DayranInto The WoodsWARNING: This article contains

Darwin's view that man came from apes … as a reference to the evolving life … may well be restated as man came from the progenic forces. The ape is but a stage in specie adaptation … and growth. In making that observation … he no doubt relied on the fundamental scientific principle of observation … as regards the rudimentary qualities of apes … that comes close to the semblance of man.
In the continued verification of the view … science measured brain sizes of apes … and of early primitive man … and formed a view of such links between the anima world … and that of man. However if I was to make the suggestion that the bear … with a smaller brain size and larger body … formed the basis for the development of passions … and was of greater significance … in the development of the human … I don't suppose that would be off the line.
In adding to the view … the opinion that … emotions played a greater significance in evolution … before we became cognate of its impact … it would presume that … the early qualities of the ' living person ' was of closer semblance to the bear. Close-up … we get the impression that the early passions were child-like … and Winnie the pooh … is certainly the front runner for that contention. In comparison … monkeys didn't live in anything resembling a home … were still attached to a tail … and subsisted on a diet of veggie.
The suggestion makes for a great contest of the ideas of science … especially when we relate to the constellations … Ursa and Canis … but no apes. So what does this say about taking pot shots at science … with a vicarious attitude regarding its premises? Does it raise a whole new view of possibilities? Does it question the basic premises we have made about intelligence … and its relation to the emotions? Perhaps it does that ...and perhaps its also saying … there are no sacred cows … in the libertine expression of thoughts.
As a free man .. who is in the practice of applying his own thoughts to issues … I certainly think … the comment above is possible. How did nature … then bring the two together … for its optimum refinement? I don't think it has. I think the bear led to the development of the Neanderthal … for the perfection of the body physique … and the ape to the homo sapiens … for mind development. And is there a certain east west inference to the homo sapiens … neanderthal relation? My response to that would be … ' what would that serve?'
And now … in a no-man's land of free thought … we are in a position to refer to our insights on the issue. Isn't it man … who is the subject of the inquiry? The position refers to … an introduction to the arts of human insight. We begin by trusting ourselves … and not drag in anything that seeks to defend what we thought before … or what we would choose as the preferred view. And right here … we realize that we have let go off the usual ties that we cling to … and for a moment rely on our own instruments … for the answers.
My first response is the affirmation … that for a brief moment … I am free to think of what I figure is truly reflective of my layman passions and mind. Too often the learned disposition of man … borrows from the existing … ' all too well established views ' … and we try to stuff that into the passions … for its responses. My experience with the passions … serves to inform me … that as my passions … they would like to see me apply my mind … on the issues. That receives greater credence in the passions … than something I borrow.
The imperative that I encounter … in the process … is the engagement of the life forces … that makes me alert to the views I make … and to account for them myself. It emphasizes the individual nature of such inquiries … as if to say … its in the self realization of these issues … do they impact on my sense of knowing … and my volition to act on related matters. The assurances of civilization … keeps telling us not to reinvent the wheel. That makes for a great day at the mall … but it doesn't ring the bells of concordance in the life.
In engaging ourselves this way … we sometimes come to the strangest of experiences … as if its sourced from outside our minds. I had this vision of a pond with grasses on its banks from sometime back. Today as I saw it again … I felt a fear … and my guides suggested that there are crocodiles in it. My mind turned away instinctively to the right … where another pond with grasses appeared … but the scene was delightfully calm. My passions relate to the calm one with an association … but to the pond of crocodiles … as a visitor. What does it mean? Who knows!
But I figure its setting the stage for me … to delve into the visions … the next couple of days … to see if something comes up. Its the way the passions and mind works … and quite often … it relates to events taking place around me … and my responses to it. It could of course be referring to the leaking faucet in the bathroom … but in muddling all around … I satisfy one important aspect of the experience. I apply myself to find out.
Its certainly tedious … and we are in the normal course of our habits … inclined to take it out of the can … or the web page for some info. But the exercise of mind … is a dying art in the world … and sometimes … its simply fun … to take to its fussiness for a while. Its nice to know where everything is … in case … the leaking faucet turns into a flood. Perhaps we'll be able to build an ark. © 2015 Dayran |
