Teens Today

Teens get hysterical … especially at music concerts. Its resembles the point of contact between … the dreams of the free passions growing up … and the suggestion of realization of such dreams … at least in the song version. And in the tumultuous sprout of growing up … with cells dividing … hair growing … hormones pouring …  we come to experience … that person on stage … as sunshine itself … creating the photo synthesis … of our images.

 

It comes to meet every child … who has grown into his formative years … a 30-year God … who exemplifies our dreams … as if on cue. It was a bunch of girls for me … but one that stayed durable in my impressions … into my pre-adult years … was Raquel Welch. I think she outlasted the others … in the way she matured … spoke her mind on issues … stayed fashionable … and as I realized later … was quite statuesque.

 

And in the fickle … whimsical … nature of the ego of the passion … I found that I may have created a vote for her … that brought her down next to the seat of my passions. She was my lady of the arts of the possible.  And from there … she helped me view others … in the context of her lifestyle … which defined for me how I saw anything … and related to it. I think Frederick Buford (*1) approved.

 

I've been going around to the websites of the other former 30-Year Gods recently … folks like Sean Connery … Roger Moore … but I never thought to check to see if Ms. Welch may have a site. Come to think of it … I feel the need to hide the intrinsic nature of the way I feel about her … and it would be much too much … for me to deal with. Maybe I enjoyed a sense of the anonymous .. in my perceived association with her … that worked better for me. What would I have said to her … if I meet her? ' Yes ma'am … lovely idea ma'am … wonderful! '

 

The English rock group … Yes … had a powerful impact on my passions … in the 70s. I think in some way … it was music … that a … Raquel … would have appreciated. It seemed to suit her … who had in her life … re-invented herself in some way … and it conferred on me … an acceptance of changes … that Yes … brought to their songs. It was an encouragement from her … and I was to later … engage such formidable changes … in my own life.

 

And as I was working on some aspects of the ego and the passions … it became clear to me … that there were two aspects to its understanding. One part engaged the literal nature of the experience … the Lady herself … my association with her public persona … and the roles she played in movies. Then there was there … understanding of the principle … that involved simply the notion … of a man … a woman in the public eye … and Frederick Buford.

 

As I moved to understand the relation … as a phenomenon … I found the literal obsessions surprising. It was after all an anonymous … play of passion … with catch ball. But the way it was woven into everything else … that I came into contact with in my pre-adult years … it had taken on a social identity of its own … and formed the basis … of much that I had come to hold dear. And so I've stayed with … converting the experience into an understanding … of a personal relation … that doesn't physically exist … but there you have it!

 

But the definition it provided me of my social identity … turned out to be useful. It went beyond the mere … social mannerisms … I encounter in my physical surroundings. This engaged my take on life … the Gods … the world … fame … and success in life. I continue to work with that these days … and may have come full circle … to the experience of teens in these times … and their 30 year Gods.

 

I'm speaking of Lady Gaga. I caught a snippet of the Barbara Walters interview … some stage shows … and the one that jumps out at Youtube … on the day … she exposed her c**t … on stage during a show ... at the Gayclub London ... in 2013. I know how her male devotees would have responded to that. With guilt. And that's because … a 30 year God … identifies with her young audience … the content of their dreams … and she simply … announced that to them.

 

It reminds me of the irascibility I experienced … about being responsible for what goes on in the world … at least that which comes into easy association. It poses the inquiry … of my views on it … and it takes me to task on the practicality and reality … of the impulses stored in my passions. I'd liked to think … that's not a serious question … but not any more. There's something about old age … that brings itself to be responsible for life.

 

And in the arms-length way that a father … comes to view the strange tales of love and passion … in the life … no doubt borrowed from his own … he sees the possibility of all life. An adolescent first experiences that … in a dream-like notion of possibilities … but the literal aspect of the ego … and the social self … takes it away … to make some commitments to the life lived. But when that life's commitments are over … we muse … about the man of the times.
