Got Milk

Keeping it under the Hat

Everyone feels misunderstood … but along with that … we feel a sense of dis-connect … with the world around us. The condition is observed to be related to the passions … and in a man … it hints at the desires of a woman … within … that attempts to relate … through the man … and to his environment. In viewing the experience … the man realizes that … the passions are in a state of dreams … with no guide on its limits. And quite often … the man moves to regulate and limit … such dreams.

However in doing so … he encounters a peculiar response from what's within. It contradicts the view … that its a dream … and it creates a push … on the man for its realization … even though its as yet … unnamed … non-formed … and uninformed regarding itself. Its a unidentified volition regarding itself … that is apparently an attempt … to get the man … to find out what it is. But the situation … gets a little more complicated thereafter.

As the man moves … to know it better … he relies on study … and the observation of the physical nature of the environment. He makes the attempt to relate … to the physical expressions of society members … that comes closest to a semblance … of the experience within. In that … to a man in the world … his first impression of the issue … relates to the physical presence of women … in the dainty self-possession of a sense of beauty … that resembles … the inquiries of his passions.

It has been the great game of the sexes … and its not without some fun … a loving disposition … and the experience of the joys of companionship.  However at this point … and possibly in the times we encounter in the world … we are tasked to view that relationship … for a second-look of its peculiar features and to understand it better. Its become a matter of some significance.

A man first encounters the same peculiarity … in his mind. By a subtle difference in perception … its possible to distinguish our perceptions as that of an individual … and as that of a collective world view. That has always implied a responsibility on our part … especially when communicating on issues that are entirely … based on insights and perceptions. Some care in the way we communicate … engage the correct manner of expression available … helps to preserve the social etiquette.

With regards to the body … a woman experiences the same dual phenomenon. Her body is as much an object of personal identity … as it is … a representation of the world … to her man … in a relationship. The difference becomes abundantly clear … when she applies her milk of human kindness … to her man or child. It has a powerful impact on the man's perceptions of himself … and should be discerned from his public personality … in his daily activity.

Our human practices … often turn a blind eye … to such needs for precision of discernment in our condition. The guide we receive on the issue … is that it can … in the course of time … be worked into the normal behavior of an individual … without too much fuss. Its only in the untrained individual … that the matter appears like … much ado about nothing ...  at least until … the s**t hits the fan.

A man on the job … with a family … and social responsibilities … takes a holiday from time to time … and enters into a discernment of the issues … over the two or three days. It helps … and it creates an awareness of the issues … so that he hones his responses … to halt the squabbling army of innuendos … and to keep his house in order. In other places … folks engage in a daily ritual of the practice of za-zen … to do their housekeeping daily. Practice makes perfect … and it becomes normal.

It brings an amusement to me … to sometimes view or read of newspaper accounts … of the meeting between Westerners and Orientals. Its here … in this no-man's land of etiquette and decorum … that the world first heard the term … ' the loud-mouthed ugly American.' Its no doubt produced a reaction … in the Americans. In a meeting … at the Consulate one time … I was asked by a senior American company official … whether the view of the ' ugly American ' … was prevalent in my country?

That was in the 1980s. As the 21st Century dawned … the issue had evolved into one of … ' if you've got it flaunt it.' The world's response to it … has been to view it as brazen … and the intensity of responses involved …  planes … buildings … and military targets. I was working in college at that time … and had asked a colleague for his key to the staff room for me … to knock off a copy. Jokingly … he produced the key with the comment … ' here it is … the key to the Pentagon.' I had answered … ' good … then you don't have to bomb it with a plane.'

Certainly … the question is … what is the key? The object of flaunt … the golden haired bod of the Western experience … certainly has a place … in the continued development of human society. I remember the times when I used to be with this friend … who was working out … and my impulse on seeing him … was to punch him … so I'll spar with him. Just happens ... I guess! Eventually I think he learnt to suck it in … everytime he saw me.

A man accustomed to discernment … sees in any situation … where there is no evidence of specific issues …  the  possibility of plain hot-rod excitation … and the expectation of panache … that travels. It must be the adrenalin. But as a society … can't we bring ourselves to organize a practice around it … as a reflection of the common advances of the human specie? It is … nothing less … than the reality of our lives … in these times. Besides ... our thoughts in these areas  … are in a place (*1) … where no one comes.
