The White God

Kong Lives!

"

Its a theme we sometimes find … in the movies. A crew is shipwrecked on an island … they meet the natives … and eventually … the blonde one is taken to view as God … and installed in the islanders' worship. But it hasn't always ended that way. Thereafter … in finding that God false … they attempt to kill him … with the rage of the dis-possessed … and our adventurous crew is forced to fight their way out.

The theme was there in King Kong … in which the Goddess is offered to the ' Great One ' … who eventually comes to New York … to seek her … and is drawn to his own primal impulses … but falls to his death. An unlikely tale is what most would say … and the antagonist … ' Isn't it typical the way these people seem to think about themselves.' As for me … I think its a classic … and it ought to be up there with the legends of Hesiod … as a true and bold … modern day presentation … of human practices … and our self understanding … self determination … of our destinies.

But like all movie versions … it relies on human excitability to tell its story. Its like authors these days … who find they can't tell their story … without a detective involved … and the obligatory shoot-out with guns blazing. It certainly refers to an inquiry of sorts … that's followed to the heart of the mystery … and in that … it refers to our need to know. In that way … all stories … relate to the final mystery of our being.

But a man … who's into his retirement years … returns to encounter his perceptions … and in the stress-free environment of unmindfulness … faces the prospect of suggestions … he may well find preposterous. My studies of the Indic texts … found the nature of man … all the way from Osiris … to the 8th Century CE … who fashioned stories … about popular images in their times … that formed a center … to their way of life. In some cases … it came to be viewed as God … and became the object of worship in their lives.

What's different now? Not much … but it involves … people and images … on the street level … … on the other side of the world … and our tendency has always been … to simply dismiss it as ludicrous. As I relate our present attitudes … to the state of faith in our societies … my perception is that … we need to change the way we have viewed the instruments of faith … and come to understand its basis better. Certainly the responses we have been getting … from the hard-core sections … has been to turn terrorist … and destroy the emerging perceptions.

We ask the question … what need does all these relate to in man? Why do we need Gods? … the light that plays in our minds? … and the play of the passions? To answer that … we need to take a long hard look at the physiology of the human body. Our bodies and tissue … with its nerves and blood vessels … organs … mind … and the muscle of physical motion … needs to be preserved in proper working order. That's done best with … what we have come to call feelings … that creates that … sense of touch … and to alternate our activity between work and rest.

It must have been the first great labor of the mind … to find a way … to cultivate the passions … the way it came to exist in anima … and then advance itself … into the human specie. In the human specie … it comes to encounter the mind … that's a critical instrument in our advancements. In turn the development of mind … relates to the passions … and refines its excitation and fears … to make itself suitable for human society.

And its this … the human society … and the growth of the mind that concerns us today … especially … in the way faith and belief … has followed the past trails … and led itself … into our modern applications. And what it seems to point at … is the way we have gone past the anima and the elements … to bring man himself to symbolize our hopes and expectations. We can no longer say … its in the hands of mysterious forces … particularly when we have taken over the work … of these forces … and brought it … to greater relation to man.

Its made man … take greater control of his collective destiny. And we find in the inquiries … that its always relied on some perception of the perfect being … be that from a hind view of the anima experience … or a conscious view … of our present organization of society ...in the world. In such an experience … we find the development of the perfect human body … in the responsibility of one group … the passions in another … mind in another part of the world … and in the same way ... the God experience … the female conveyance of passions … and the behavioral tendency of children.

It appears silly .. to say in reference to simply one part of our world being … that that is claiming to be God. Perhaps its due to the light complexion of the tissues of individuals … or the overt sensation that it plays on our sight … but such is the haste … and fears we seem to be encountering in these times. What's needed is for us … no matter where we are … to discover the part we are playing … in this opus of creation possibilities … and to stay to perfect that.

In a situation such as what we encounter … the solution to our common humanity of experience can only be in one place. Our bias. Its human to err … and we need to find that … most of all in our own experience. In engaging that … we find its association … in a long line … of cues and hints … that are inevitably aggrieved … because every passion … has in the past … been in service to its own life. We shouldn't be fooled by that! By walking that extra mile … we'll be surprised at what we find.
