Doc Savage & the SatyrA Story by DayranWanna Arm Wrestle? He doesn't strike you as the Harvard type … but he's a man who combines a certain anima instinct with the civility of an academician … and he's good at solving problems. He's Doc Savage … the man of many talents … who takes on what nobody else will … and encounters great dangers … bizarre … and comes out on top. He's a comic book hero … brought into TV serials … and then the movie.
In real life … that's a man who stands … in the center of the deep passions … and realizes that … its fed by innuendos … cues … hints … and gossip. And against all these are arraigned … the great faiths of the world … the men of moral courage … the dignity of public office … and the law of the land. We have since added to it … the ethics of social manners … the norms of society … virtue … our value systems … and the code of the gentleman. Its a no-man's land … and yet it feeds all impulses in man.
Our man in the center … can be contacted by the wise .. children … and the born again innocence of saints. He brings to them … an attitude of the puzzle … like a child sitting … and staring at the world … with no other thought … than what he sees. Its a simplicity … and we add to that … our social attitudes … preferences … and biases … in order to relate to the social experience of society. It would I suppose … be closest to the average and normal bias of society.
In women … its viewed as the defining quality of femininity … with her body as the main instrument of the passions … that attracts to it … all manner of references … as regards her personality … and the charms of womenhood. Its the instrument of the poets … who view with their own special natures … the role of women in this place … that defies all manner of description … or definition. And in the course of time … it forms the adapting quality to the experience of women and of society.
Its also the early view of the world … by the astronomers … alchemists … men of faith … and the empire builders. Each brought to it … their own predicate … of the contents of the deep passions … and that in turn … through a course of many lives … and the association of the social experience … build an experience and perception of the world. Two thousand years … since the Christ … we realize that … its the raison d'etre of man … in relation to the world.
The tradition of the men of faith … reflects itself in their meditations on the issue … and each age brings to us … someone new … in the personality of the man at the center. The Indics refer to such a man … as a Deva … or Divine Being … not God but simply divine. It would explain … the Hindu pantheon … which is unlike the intermediary nature of the Christians. In the Indic … the Deva … is a function of the times … like a world spirit … and will give way to someone new .. . in the course of time.
The new Deva … for these times … is expected to be not different from the Doc Savage … personality. At birth … children grow into an intimation of his personality … in reference to their social environment. The fascination is expected to be carried … into the teens … and thereafter the adults … who attempt an achievement of that personality (*1) in real life. No doubt the women will have their own views on the matter … on account of the sexual function … and the magi-based qualities of the satyr.
As the defining experience of the man in the center … the Deva … brings a collection of impulses … that creates a circle of experience … among the cues and hints of life of the times … that appears like so many suggestions … about what to do … how to view oneself … and how to view the world. It answers the questions of … who we are … by the many innuendos … and suggestions that abound in such an environment. All the great oratory of the past … fueled the debates of the times thereafter … to fill the last century with discourses of the mind … that's brought us here … at the start of the 21st century.
The practice of self-realization brings us into contact with such a view … and thereafter the individual relates to the phenomenon of the one … as another member of society. In such a way … we view the experiences of the Vasudeva … the Christ … Buddha … and Siva. Its no-form … yet it brings a view of form through the collective perception of everyone. Its a common habit of the human bias … to view the image of God … with the greatest relevance of qualities … to the times.
As we start to understand the phenomenon better … we realize that its an instrument of evolution … to organize human society … and to fill us with a common purpose. The man in the center … views all man as equal … and encourages the faithful to do so as well. He has been described in Indic text as embodying the qualities of … love … knowledge … work … devotion and discernment. And he has always contributed to man's understanding of his role … as the universal self of creation.
In the annals of dharma … the key criteria applied has always been like Newton's laws … ' do unto others as you would have others do unto you ' … and in this principle of ' what goes around comes around ' … man bases his faith in himself and in God. In an ultimate experience … it points to him … his role in the phenomenon … and in tracing that to the source … comes to self realization of life. But I'll have to say … it never stops being curious that man can know … and that no doubt will continue … the discourses on predicates in our debates.
