The Panache of PersonalityA Story by DayranSelf madeEvery flower has an ambition. And if plants could talk … they would point to their desire … to bring into the world an object of beauty. Its the reproductive zeal inherent in nature. Its the intent to beautify … where beautification is in itself … a sacred act of consecration … for the cause of life. Its the vase of creative productivity … handed to each individual … as a part of his life … to design his own favorite adornment for life's beautification.
And if we should discover … in the middle of our endeavors … that the accumulated total … of our joint creative drives … is leading in a certain direction … we ought to pause and reassess our situation. Is this what we wanted all along? Certainly we would spend some time … creating a new appreciation for where we are going with our collaborative efforts. Perhaps we may pull out from there … or perhaps we will adapt to the new vision of our futures … and relate to it again with a refinement of our earlier ambitions.
In flower arrangement … we bring together individual flowers … that may be of different specie … and place them in relation to each other … in a basket … so as to create a relation to what we feel in our passions. A bouquet becomes an expression … of the tumultuous variety of life … or is the harmony we see in life … despite its diversity. Each flower conveys an impression of personality … and in relation to another … in the common basket … displays a relation that expresses itself in its design.
Its a curious behavior of plants … to carry both the male and female reproductive organs … and yet offer itself to mate with other plants … in its environment … by the work of wind … water … insects … or the carrying properties of its seeds. Science … in viewing the behavior … concluded that self pollination … over extended periods … diminishes the life of plants … and its important for it … to mix and merge … with its own kind.
In the concept of the Indic sampradaya … man came to notice the diversity of qualities … called kulam in Sanskrit … and saw the work of nature … in bringing them into an arrangement for a greater advancement of experiences. Such qualities were arranged together as mind … passions … and the the way they relate to each other. Its such views of a collective greater experience … that prompted the unification of states … in our political administration … to build something more complex and sophisticated.
And always in each of these arrangements … we find ourselves as one part of the experience … in a role best suited to ourselves … in a specialization that only we as individuals can bring to the overall experience. We have all brought our initiatives to such an endeavor of collaboration. We do so from our own vase of creativity … and add to the growing arrangement of possibilities … and ensuring that it continues to grow.
Historically … the Indics identify the period commencing in 600 bc … as the stage for the start of initiatives regarding man's cross pollination of values and qualities. They named it the Mahajnanapada … or the great leap in wisdom. They undertook it in the Gangetic river basin … and brought individual qualities … into a social bowl of mixtures … that enhanced the effect of the creative qualities … and produced newer strains of seed and thought.
In comparison … the Indus culture of an earlier period … on the western part of the country … introduced the Vedic conceptualization of the individual God and by implication … the individual man. What do you get for a man who has everything? I figure … something to help him bring his mighty intellect into a display of itself … and perhaps himself. And who better to do that than a woman.
But she's gonna insists on running the place some day … by molding in her embrace … the entire sampradaya of civilization … into a companion to accompany her to the grocer. But man! … who figured she'll bring a devotion to it all … so big … that it'll take … all the King's horses and all the King's men … to build a new world … in order to … wean her devotion … first as mother … then wife … and then to encourage her to re-discover her personality … as the tweak … on creation's early designs.
Its a view of male female relations that's just slightly romantic … and the effect is just a little leading on the man's impulses. But there's a validation for the view presented above by the way we named … the constellation Bootes. As the closest thing to a male identity … I figure Bootes lent himself to be named after Zeus … Herakles … Siva … and some likely personalities in the world's experience today … who haven't been named. Bootes is the plough … and turns over the soil for a new season. In that its a little like buying a kid a bicycle … simply to have him … loosen all the bolts … to find out how its put together.
The man therefore grew to be impulsive … but the plan of creation … apparently relied on his relations with the feminine … to inspire him … to channel his mind to something … that would be fun … self sustaining … and grow into something uniquely satisfying. And in the process … such a man was encouraged to wonder about his abilities … and to realize his greater potential … as a co-creator of the universe.
Let loose on the world's landscape … the man has certainly been very busy. In the years that we have been at it … we have come to a notion of what its about … and as we stand at the threshold of a new century … we inquire into the issue of personality … as an instrument that's begun to occupy a great deal of our interest. Our personality … is the most powerful tool yet … for self management … and the possibilities of self determination … in relation to the life … that we are coming to understand better. Its more than what we started with .. and it promises to grow.
