The Celt TableA Story by DayranUnderstanding the SubtleAfter all this time … it seems strange to be saying this … but it appears to me … that our daily pre-occupation in the social … and our motivation to achieve … is founded entirely … on the belief of ' wish fulfillment.' And if we are up to it … we may want to … look at another aspect of wishes … especially its source and origin. And along the way … we may briefly review the ways we can understand that better.
Its curios that … our folklore has brought us … to view a falling star … as a point for wishing for the wish this night. It makes us wonder about the collective wisdom … we have inherited as humans … and perhaps to wonder where it comes from. In simple reference … it points to the reproductive elements … of the sperm and egg … that is potentially the store of everything in the created universe.
Hence our deep desires … arises from a place that is before mind. It is the source of the mind … and quite often we mix the two together … as if our progeny instruments are the mind itself. In experiencing a separation of the two … we do not necessarily … have to be lost … or fearful for how to think. We can … in a manner of relating … to the source of our origins … undertake a simple activity … to make contact again.
Its something … I worked at for a while … and found it useful … to overcome any irrational doubts we might have about … how we think. It starts with our realization … that we may not know everything … and its just nice to be able … to throw some ideas about with a friend. This is especially significant in instances … when we realize that … the world and the universe … is a much bigger place than we had thought.
Set up a square table in a room … with a white cloth. Hang an item of clothing such as a suit … shirt … or dress … on the adjoining wall. That's the person … who's representative of the source of who we are. Then go about your usual work … but do not think out … what you want to ask him … or display some willed attitude … about what you are or what he is. We want to start … in a simple and fresh manner … to an understanding of our self … beyond all the hasty attempts … we have been doing so far.
After giving it a day or two … create some awareness … about that which arises naturally in yourself … as a representation of want … or desire. Next … stay focused on the quality of the impulse … and ask yourself … how you may represent that impulse with a physical object. For instance … if you are yearning to know things better … and you can't pinpoint the exact object to represent that impulse … you may want to … visit a gift shop nearby … and pick up a small globe of the world.
That's your starting point. Place the globe … in the center of the table. What it represents is your unspoken intimation regarding your feelings … that day. And obviously … you are addressing that intimation to someone … related as your origin. It starts as the beginning … of a relationship … that used to be so privately intimate … but is now … apart … and with whom … you are forming a relationship … based on desire … individualism … and is private.
It ought to occur to you in the coming days … that you have not shared this level of communication with anyone. And it brings some association with … ' someone ' that … that you are opening up to … and perhaps learning to trust again. And if the closest impulse that arises after that … is to remind you of your days in school … you may want to pick up a … gift item that looks like school … and place that … next to the globe … on the side of the ' suit ' … on the wall.
In retrospect … that's the response provided to you … by your friend. He is saying that … you ought to take a look at the friendships … you created in school. Then you might get a model bike … that meant a lot to you in school … that you place on your side of the table. You may want to continue with this for about 3 months … or such time that you think … it has helped you make clear … your feelings on the issues..
Besides slowing down … and pacing your thoughts … it provides you with the opportunity … to spend a bit more time with each issue … and then move on … without being tied down … to one impulse in particular. It also provides the feel … of a communication with yourself … that is not always aimed at … simply comforting you … or praising stuff that you do. In that … it provides us with a relief … from an over wrought imagination … and focuses the mind … at object orientation … that would enhance our experience … of the physical environment.
I call it a celt table … and its been extremely helpful … when dealing with haste … issues that are convoluted … or issues that are large in scope and size. Its a way to organize our thoughts … and can lead us to make notes … write poetry … painting … or to do some reading. Its most significant utility … is in regards to passions … and issues that do not lend themselves to a simple review and understanding. No doubt it will remind some of you … of the Ouija board in youth … but this will take it to a level … that's coherent and relevant to issues we encounter.
It must be possible to work this with someone … we have a deep intimate relationship with … though I have not done it myself. It helps to bring perceptions … that may be dimensionally different … to the level of the subtle passions … and for us to understand better that our feelings … exist at many levels. I did it for about 3 months … and I think I've made a friend … in the ' suit.' He's a curios fella … but he helped me understand my Avala* aspect … and I'm grateful.
The non-speech content of the experience … helps to stir and stimulate the subtle senses into a response. It works to reveal the naturally occurring association of thoughts. Thereafter we engage the mind to understand … make notes etc. The importance of the non-verbal aspect … cannot be over-emphasized. It is the key to … having the passion flow by itself … and to quieten or pace the mind … in its daily sojourn of views. Thereafter … it opens the individual to possibilities.
