Moths to the FlameA Story by DayranRe-thinking SocietyDreams transform into reality … by a curiously convoluted process … that continues to occupy our attention … in these times. The depiction of the Vulcan at the forge … conveys the idea behind the transformation … as subjecting our ideas to light … and thereafter bringing it to physical reality. There are many variations of the theme.
The practices of Vedic India … initiated the process of subjecting … man's dreams to the ritual of fire … and evolved sun-worship … as the source of light … in the world. It encouraged the individual to express his ideas in physical reality … and to test the viability of the idea … in physical terms. The experience is far more complex than most people realize. And as we approach new ideas … not yet tested … our resolve for testing ideas … becomes suspect.
In the globalization experience today … we encounter the great idea of the experience of oneness … but how we translate that into physical reality … has raised the most preposterous of ways and lifestyles … that threatens to engulf our achievements to-date. It brings into clear awareness … the view that each individual experiences … his own reality … and its different from one to another.
Our general understanding to-date … assures us that anything under the sun … that's being practiced as lifestyle … over a duration of time … is tested and is a physically true experience. However such a period of time occupies a frame between 250 " 500 years. To relate to this … our generation … as the lead group … to test the ideas of oneness … faces a formidable task … with regards to our personal attitudes and personality traits. It is a considerable test to our wills … as regards change.
Its curios to think that … a thinking man today cannot differentiate between a dream and reality … but when we consider how long it has taken us to evolve to this stage … led by the initiatives of the dream … we realize why. And to move from one to the other … is a process of trial and error … quite often resulting in mistakes and injuries … that we have to heal … before moving on.
A breakdown of a dream perspective … is an awful experience … that distorts our personality … and alters our view of the society we live in. In reviewing the experience … we find that it has been the basis of our beliefs … social organization … and personality. We experience the life of the sociopath for a while … until we are able to restore ourselves … to the acceptance of the physical reality … we have come to.
In our recent past … entire societies around the world … have been subject to the transformation … of their provincial views of our identity … to that of its global reality. Indic teens are fond of saying … ' India is the greatest country in the world ' … referring in effect to the provincial nature of their view of their country … society … knowledge of the self … and personality. In their heritage of a knowledge … rich in the view of the world … they have not realized the dream content of such an experience … but apply it indiscriminately … as the whole truth.
The experience is not unlike that of societies elsewhere. But its not uncommon to encounter … individuals whose lives have been transformed by the diminishing of dreams and the acceptance of a greater physical reality. In doing so … they realize that … the world as a physical reality … is the final achievement of the dream … that led us to that realization. And in returning to view the dream … we realize that its been the persistent enthusiasm of our wills … for its achievement.
In the transformation process … our dreams partner our physical experiences … to form flashes of vision … as regards our potential achievement … and brings a wondrous realization of such possibilities to our ken of understanding. We are enthralled by such experiences … and it forms the strength … for overcoming our fears … about what lies ahead … in our future. Its quite often a play of mind and heart … that reveals our obsessions with past achievements … in relation to new challenges … that we encounter.
Our efforts … invariably relate to what we have been prepared for. And the process commences with the lofty philosophy of such achievements … before moving onto … the social affirmation of such a transformation in the world … and thereafter to engage it … in connection with relations … family … and our own individual personality. It brings the message home to us … in relation to what we have always thought about ourselves.
At the BBC website … in the section Future … in an article on 2nd July 2014 by Gaia Vince … entitled ' Homni : The New Superorganism Taking Over Earth ' … refers to the transformation taking place in our societies … as the prelude to the emergence of a new specie. It quotes palaentologist Tim Flannery as saying … ' we are in the process of forming an interdependent global society with a set of shared beliefs " a "civilization of ideas."
Such a view … from the society around us … affirms our own involvement in such a transformation … and awakes our will to the continued need … to grow. It relates our individual self … to others in our environment … and affirms our growing role … as the model of change in our environment … in a world … that's growing bigger … than the continued dependency on the provincialism. As the BBC says … ' its the new man.'
