Lend Me a WordA Story by DayranMeanings of WordsIt comes as a surprise … to many at times … that their passions contain an intrinsic wisdom … gained from the past histories of man. It applies itself with a certain flexibility … on account of the fact that … the mind has not been trained … for something more precise. We spend our lives … relating to such wisdom within … and bring such simple aphorisms … that seems bright and true of our lives … and we comfort ourselves that we are doing the right thing.
In an exposure to the growing environment around us … we come to the realization … that we need to do more … especially since … everyone seems to be quite well acquainted … with the antiquated aphorisms we are raising. But what does it refer to as more?
In the advancement of the specie … we are as a world today … commencing the mind based development of our growth … and bringing that to the understanding of the specie. In making the realization … we note that it is also the start … involving basic familiarity of the emotional content of our needs … the way we express that content in words … and to cultivate our individual volition … for the management and guide of its potency.
It feels a little like training the child … we once were … and that's an entirely normal view of the experience. We'll need to get the child in us to correct a habit … that's endemic between child and mother. We do that … in our adult years … by creating a volitional separation … of our emotions … some very subtle … away from identifying with the mother. Here's where we find that … we have convinced ourselves … in a convoluted way … that what the mother brought to us … was in some way … our own actions.
In creating that separation … we are left with the child's share of the growth experience … and as the adult today … we are responsible for filling in the child's new outlook … with what we have learnt … as the man and father of the child. No doubt these past so many years has filled our own … yearning to know with intimations … hints … cues … and the sort. But how does one actually put it into words?
To a male individual … his position today represents the urban experience … while that which he separates from … continues with the pastoral. In the second stage of the exercise … he learns to fine tune … his own pastoral experience … to convert that to the urbanized experience … around him. The expression … that he now brings to the emotions … needs be precise … and a good collegiate dictionary is invaluable for the purpose.
Webster's Collegiate Dictionary … is a first class reference … for this purpose. It provides the word … its pronunciation … its origin … usage in situations … and the grammatical context of the word … as to whether its a verb … noun … adjective … and so forth. Of special importance is the acoustical nature … of the sound of the word. The emotions are especially drawn to the precise sound … and that needs to be maintained in an adroit manner thereafter.
Another fun thing we encounter with the attention … we bring to words … is the extension it creates … and the association with similar acoustically sounding words. For instance the word … ' brookite ' … refers to a mineral that is brownish in color … and is found in stones. Its used for cosmetic jewellery … and provides a transparent hue to one's personality … that is sweet and relaxed.
From here it makes the connection with a brook … or stream. And then there's the … brook no nonsense. Thereafter … in acoustical association … we wonder about how the language … engaged it with other words like … book … kites … break … bloke … and so forth. Certainly it brings a great curiosity to the practice of naming people with the word … for instance … Brook Shields. We wonder if the associated words and meaning … say something about her personality.
Its possible to go further with the interest … and to advance it into scientific applications. What is the melting point of brookite … strength … composition … atomic properties of its elements … the cause of the color … the age of the mineral in geological time … and what effect if any does wave particles from the stone … have on the body of a person wearing it as ring … or necklace.
I had found at the time … I was looking into words … that it even brought a resemblance to the tissue coloration of individuals … here in Asia. And by associating their personality … with brookite … it opened me to a considerable vista of views … about my neighbors … in the urban environment. Its possible to separate its qualities based on the effect on us. In a passionate aspect … we may view a brookite tanned girl … with some expectation of her qualities.
In a mind based aspect … we wonder about the origin of the people with such coloration … their history … and their present group identity in the world's society. Its possible to view information on the blogs … regarding what they say about themselves … their cultures … beliefs … and expectations. We are not in that way creating … much ado about others … for in the process … we are learning about how we may view ourselves .. in some such way.
My initial experience at this had me as excited … as watching the … The Bullwinkle Show. It had created a promise in my young life … of the joys of learning. And this time … I was the professor … contemplating the wonders of the learning experience. But it didn't stop me … getting fascinated with Alaska … and the large moose population there.
