The Hot Pants CrazeA Story by DayranThe Chariot of the GodsThere's a hot pants craze … that's been on … for about 5 years now. Its got so that … I keep asking myself … ' is there a pool around here?' … simply to rationalize the experience. Obviously … the mood here in Bear Mountain has picked up … and at the cafe … it permits the subtle … engagement of thoughts … about sexuality.
Quite often … the first thought on sexuality is simply … ' how did something so wonderful … turn into a bog of attachment and defenses? ' The Indics refer to it as … ' the net of passion ' … and ultimately they portray it as … a cobra … encircling the neck of Siva. It draws the individual into a deep place of pleasures … and causes him eventually … to lose all contact with knowledge … or rather … the knowledge of the past.
In climbing out of the pit of the experience … the individual views again … his avoidance of factual natures … in favor of love's pleasures … and wonders perhaps if he learnt something … from the encounter. He becomes thereafter … the greatest advocate of love … denying any foolishness on his part … and makes the impossible attempt … of uniting love with knowledge. Impossible?
Freud referred to the origins of the passions as a reservoir … in which our drives … float like inert logs … until they are charged by the libido … into super driven qualities in man. At some point further on the road … we realize that they are not logs at all … but crocodiles … that will not release their bite onto something desirable. The trigger mechanism … is managed by something resembling music … or poetry … and like a dance in a maze of self-reflections … we follow its will.
To put the experience in perspective … we need to go back a couple of thousand years … to understand the nature of society … that developed based on the word of the father. That is viewed in Freud's reservoir today … as sexual impulses … that rose to the word … and perceived knowledge of the father … and acted accordingly. Democratic ideals … the socialization factor … and learning … brought a moderation to the perceived sense of all knowing by the father … and raised the mother's imperative … for child raising and family.
There can be no doubt that the male orientation … has acquiesced to the female influence … with pockets of exceptions … and currently attempts … to merge the two experiences … into one whole condition. In a sub-conscious view of the experience … that is like trying to match the passion impulses … with the rationality … of the mind. In doing so … the thinking male today … quite often … under estimates the power of the passions.
Indic references to the passions … portrays the body as a chariot … of bone … muscle and tissue … which when subscribed to with devotion … is like a chariot … in which the individual … makes the journey of life. It draws on the powers of the mind … in its imperative for survival … and employs it as common sense … folk wisdom … or the hand of God … in its application to life. It plays a powerful role in societies … that are cultivated as such. And no one else rides the chariot better … than women.
It is the wheel of societies … and it moves the minds of men. It defines the ethics … social mannerisms … meaning and purpose in our lives. We are creating cognizance of the way … that this chariot is advancing … in our times … by the add ons we bring … to the community. This has evolved from our perceived needs … and is deepening its extension of our ourselves as individuals … into the experience … of the physical environment.
The shopping mall … is the new community center in town … and it extends the principle of the church or temple. In the place of worship … we experience a re-enactment of the way … the old father … guided us by his word. In the mall … we experience something similar … in our spending habits … that are guided by the instruments of the old father.
Something similar takes place today … in the work place … especially in large corporations … when we experience the same sense of security encircling us … for the practice of ethics … in respect of work and income. Beyond that … we experience the dome of the sky … as Ptah … the old father … who brings a hard to grasp … sensation of the word … regarding our actions. In all … we have to say … our old ways … are transforming into the new … through these instruments.
Freud pointed to the … function of the role model … in the development of the personality … and today … we refer to this as the alter ego. Without doubt … it refers to the role model practice … but I think what we are saying today … is that we are ourselves … our own role model. And that … is the change we bring ourselves … to effect with regards to the old father … role model … alter ego … workplace … mall … family … temple and sky. I figure though … that he continues to retain one.
In cultivating the new father … we expect that it is a natural extension … of the old father … and we realize in the experience … the continuity ...of life … in a stable and integrated manner … of both the past and the future. We see this clearly … for instance … as a quaint view of those … who can't stop … spending at the mall. It implies a devoted past relation … with the word … and the faith we always brought to it.
