A Life of the Times

A Life of the Times

A Poem by Dayran
"

Breathe Normally

"

Quiet like the beginnings of mind

In contact with intimations fine,

Soft breezes flow gently past

Soundlessly for passions to mime.

In the silence rises a boldness

To make of schemes that rhyme,

Forming drives of desire's wants

Creating thoughts as if mine.

I'm not on stage or pantomime be

But me thinks she wants to know me,

Making like I'm the superhero

Of a tale or story beginning timely.

But I know no such thoughts

I cannot swear that they are mine,

They refer to creation's busy designers

Seeking their ways in life's perchances.

Something fallen stirs to encounter

And hastily names such thoughts as his,

Then reveals himself as passionate dreams

That was love's realm of someone past.

Such a someone claims himself all

Showing himself life in the phallus hall,

And in relation to the female experience

As friend and grain of the life encompassed.

She in turn views him tentatively

Knows him to be that of the male not lady,

She's coy and evades a relation

He backs away … ponders the situation.

Finds that he was born conquering all

Was also the friend at the social ball,

And as the self of the individual man

Combined in himself a demeanor of Gods.

But as man grew to know of himself

Women found themselves socially dextrous,

But he was found to be simply the prick

An object of derision as pride be wanton.

Now … the man seeks to break away

He's man … not God … not the fay,

He decries his association with the phallus

Not my will! Not my will! He pesters.

And so begins the age of the human

Unceremoniously, like wings besotten,

And on the ground … he denies the snake

I am man! He says … soon to wake.

Makes me wonder about the last three years

Writing to get here … finding tome's clarity,

I know now what I am trying to say

Yet not all of what lives in time.

This is a very deep piece. Leaves much for the mind to ponder. A very brilliant way you have found to express such a though provoking concept. Thank you for sharing.
