Of The Gods

One of the early life forms in the world … significant to our understanding today of life … is expected to be crustacean. The human mind … in discerning its own delicate nature … at some level … perceives such a possibility. Hence the simple classification of life … is expected to involve two facets … the nature of flesh and its defense … the shell.

In extending that to the relationship of man and God … we find that man experiences an identification with the flesh … as the living organism … and the world is viewed as the preserver of our life. The early bards named it God … the context being world as God. In reviewing the origin of the word … we find that the word ' Go ' corresponds to ' Ko ' in Sanskrit … meaning the world of senses. No doubt the bards must have figured that the God experience was like a gourd … a container … for the preservation of the senses. In retrospect … the gourd also resembles our experience of the domain of the universe … that accommodates man.

The picture of a container in relation to man … is a resemblance of the way … a mother holds a child. This may well define the early experience … of man and God. However although the relationship is observed to have evolved since … we continue to observe the principles … in much the same way. It is the favorite view of man … of a faith in the qualities of love … and our joint efforts to work to preserve it.

A man experiencing the qualities of true love … is expected to express himself in the plain and ordinary. He may well subject himself to all nature of events … and experiences … and apply himself with equanimity to all … without complaint. His tolerance knows no limits … and his compassion … on the basis of the knowledge of creation … is fair to all. But heaven help the man who messes with him … for he will not stop … to inquire and review any perceived critique of his love experience.

It is the nature of true love. Parallel lines are indicative of the clear separation between two experiences … hence if we brought the lines to cross … by our will … we find a behavior that entirely retains its former properties … but gives the appearance of being … related to one another. Such a need to cross may be critical in our lives … like survival … love … the sexual act … companionship … and so forth. And what force is capable of persuading such opposites to cross each other? … at which point? God … I think.

In the event that … someone messes with the nature of true love … that arises in the cross … the lines may pull back to their parallel condition … diminish the work of the Gods … and refuse any further persuasion to cross … for any reason. The physiological symptoms of these are clear. It creates the effect of bi-polar disorder … the symptoms of schizophrenia … depressive episodes … mood swings … erratic behavior … and sometimes plain indifference.

In the way that myths come to describe the condition … the man goes in search of the Gods … identifies the nature of the issue … and returns to correct the situation. As man … he was reliant on the nature of the Gods … as the shield … to protect and serve his cause. Where such a shield is no longer in place … man's attitude sometimes … storms heaven … and in the place of the Gods … comes to realize the nature of his relations. That is the realization that we seek. To know the delicate nature of our behavior in the cross … the nature of the social contract or covenant.

A fast talker … reveals a great deal of the nature … of the social contortion … that the situation contains. He tries to overcome the hurdles. In much the same way … the practice of the social customs … of erect body postures … speaking styles … gestures … cultivate civility aimed at the same end. Both strive to indicate the need for the cross … but one will not overtly … proclaim their need for it … while the other … is in dismissal of such needs. A man dismissing such concerns … acts out of rage and pride … and avoids the inevitable … at great risk to health and limb.

We eventually come back to engage the cross. Its a burden … there's no doubt about that. But to escape from it … climb the tree of relative knowledge … and make of it … a permanent … even absolute … experience of ourselves … unchanging … without beginning or end … eternal … is to act in haste. We attribute such qualities to ourselves … in an attempt to affirm our secure sense of being.

In such a situation we make contact with the domain … or our gourd of life. Our actions are therefore defined in relation to the divine experience … and cannot be defined as man … in relation to the qualities considered norm in the human condition. Its an experience we have all come across … but are only now beginning to understand it. It was historically in the world experience … but the novelty of its qualities … convinced many that they are somehow … a superman … beyond death … but when diminished in some cases to a vile and submissive sense of self possession … it becomes an experience of self delusion.

We are coming to understand these things better. Just the other day … my housemate … showed me a bottle of beer shampoo. Its being marketed in India. And he smiled sheepishly … in the context of what I had told him about taking a beer bath. But on the list of ingredients … it didn't identify brewer's yeast … nor were the elements … chromium, selenium, B complex … a part of the preparation. And the label says … ' made from real beer.' Hmmm … I was thinking … apparently the idea has caught on … and is brought to a new … formulation … but we are still expressing it funny. And I figured … perhaps the cross too.
