The Passion of Voodoo

I thought I'll try my hand at horror for a bit. Not my usual style … and my sympathies about it are confined to the extent that it provides a study … of the convoluted psyche … as it attempts to deal with obsessive pride in its condition. Arrogance in the human constitution … attracts all manner of malaise … not excluding … that which is brought to shame and diminish … the horn of disdain in man.

There's a tale a person hears about in all cultures around the world … about dead babies or fetuses … that are dug up from the grave … and given a treatment of the black arts. Ostentatiously it is in the service of man … especially in the way that is expected to engage the forces of creation … in their work on earth. Officially … it is expected to be practiced in the African ethos … as part of the voodoo rituals … but I have had no documentation of evidence … other than to deduce it logically.

The arts engaged create an appeal to the life forces … and nowhere is the life force more powerful … than in the constitution of a baby. Like the adoration of the magi … practiced in medieval times … this practice brings an appeal to the jiva of the dead baby … who may have gone on to another life … to help the cause of the society making the appeal. In doing so … and with the approval of the creative energies … the appeal reaches the baby now born and living elsewhere … and draws on his help.

It refers to the unity of all life … and the way that the message reaches us through many channels. A man may not be fully conscious of it … but is able to discern from his own passions … the nature of the sympathies … he has come to harbor about life in the world … and the way that we make sacrifices for others. Indic references to Kulavishnu … a baby … is defined as the basis of the creative endeavor … in the universe.

In reference to mind … we sometimes make contact … with a part of the passions … that intimates such practices in the past … and puts us in contact with a collage of proto-man practices … from an early time … that includes a curious vision … brought to our passion mind. It refers to the work of the Wiccan in the world … and includes such animal lives … like bats and frogs … that lived in pure passion … in the grip of love for life … and its survival prospects.

We are starting to understand these things better … and realize that even as these pagan practices … bring about an impact on the modern mind today … it is with the view to understand it better … and to remove the dross of vanity … with regards to knowledge. This may well be the new voodoo in the world's experience … combined with our own social decorum … and civil behavior … to bring the mind to earth level.

In a curious coincidence … the new sympathies with regards to knowledge … are a contest on the age-old hegemony of men … as masters of a chauvinistic society. It introduces the intuitive and intimate knowledge of women … as a gentler touch to the will and decision making of society. It completes the knowledge of man … and persuades him to view knowledge in continuity … from the baby to the adult … and understand the cause of birth … in the life lived.

It also points to a new relations between genders … and may perhaps heal the powerful divide between a … high flying Perseus of the Gods … and his wife equivalent of a Medusa … without chopping her head off. And it is brought together by their babies … in understanding life's purpose. Too often we define our social outlook … simply by the volume of advertising we are exposed to.

The gates of the baby … beyond a certain point … is a frightful place. There's all manner of blood ( mensuration based ) … zombies ( snail attack ) … guaman* ( yelling voices ) … sounds in the night ( memory based ) … ghosts ( moving shadows ) … slips of tongue ( saying things we didn't mean ) … changing panels ( image distortion ) … and of course … voices ( mother's adjustment bureau ). The paranoia this causes in a urbanized experience … is beyond imagination.

Certainly the experience lends itself to a wondrous experience … in a mind that is entirely trained on the positive … and allows for some ground breaking studies in science … and an edge over the minds of others … wallowing in fear. As a healer … a person may want to study the condition well … before trying to reach out to others. You must preserve yourself in the help offered … it is a condition for the recovery of those we come into contact with.

Perhaps the greatest healer of all is … the ' man walking the dog ' … a normal and ordinary member of society … whose relations with others in his social environment … presents a picture of norm … in a way that's stable and consistent. This may involve putting down the horror rituals of our past aimed at frightening the mind into submission. Its a matter of viewing our daily life as wondrous activity.
