In Love With Creation

In Love With Creation

Ambiguity in Paradise

"

The fact that a man may be in awe of creation … may have more to do with the man … than it does creation. Its an issue of some delicate nature … and may illustrate the difficulties … we create for ourselves as an individual … in our attachment to life. In such an ambivalence… and with no where to turn … for help … we come across events that many describe as magic … miracle … and sometimes as simply … super.

It is the benevolent hand of nature … the way it has guided life for ages … bringing to us what we know we need … but are unable to verbalize our responses to it. We refer to it by many terms … the Indic calls it Dharma … the Buddhist Karma … and the Christian ethic … Providence. What we say about it is that … it works in mysterious ways … but I expect that we wonder often … if its possible to come to understand it.

I had an accident with my pen drive recently … had all the files deleted in a sudden and unexplained incident at the internet cafe … when I wanted to print a file. I was standing right next to the clerk … and I know there was nothing malicious on his part ... but there you have it. I keep back up copies … of course … for the important files … but still the incident caused quite a jar on my nerves.

The stories of the Indic Puranas … begin with the great sage Vyasa … traveling on a ship with his manuscripts for the Vedas … when an accident … caused the Vedas … to be tossed into the sea. That was the preamble to the reported first incarnation of Lord Vishnu … who appeared in the form of a tortoise … swam to the bottom of the sea … retrieved the Vedas … and returned them to the sage. Its a tale with a curious touch of deja vu … to many of us today.

The Christians refer to it as the original sin … but in the reviews we undertake of our understanding in these times … we can't help but feel a certain something … that seems to imply that we lost our knowledge of ourselves … and have been cast down to recover it. The stories find a special relation to the legends of the Assyrians and in that way … is related to the experience of the early Gods of the Africans. It tells a curious tale of temptation … while in paradise … and the subsequent loss of our natural state of grace.

Curiously … in these times of recovery … we find ourselves affirming … the same responses that man appears to have done in the beginning … generating a duplication of our wrongs. This relates to our tendency … to attribute our knowledge to our individual self … and thereafter to bring the contrived benevolence of our love … to share that with others. The fact appears to be … that the knowledge is representative of the will of all … and should properly be viewed as the heritage of the world … or the intrinsic intelligence of creation.

In a situation … where that knowledge is lost … taken from us … or destroyed by an act of maliciousness … I wonder what our general reaction would be. We have viewed some of these responses in recent times … and while sympathetic to the condition … cannot help but wonder about the fiber of the will and defenses … that lashes out in blind fury at … its perceived sense of saboteurs. In that … it affirms our common sense of identity … as if to say … nobody is in that way unique and special.

However for those … spared such petty ill-will … the answer must lie in another place. This is the region of angels … saints … and the man of philanthropy … acting in the greatest professional manner … with regards to the gifts of providence. They ask whether we may have volitionally … in an act of sacrament … undertaken such a free sharing of our knowledge … and love … with no regard for the consequences. Not even stopping to consider our own needs … or that of our loved ones … in the way we gave freely.

Our recovery in these matters … is today packaged in aphorisms … proverbs … and words of wisdom … that promise to re-open the gates to knowledge … that we once closed shut by our own will of sacrifice. It seems so small in relation to what is represented by the powers of intelligence and the authority of our own temple of being. Yet we are admonished to stay with it … by people trained for that service … and who spent an entire lifetime doing it. We have to figure … they can't be fooling themselves that long.

I have lost another two pen drives … in the recent past … simply because I forgot to retrieve it. So I bought a small chain and clip and have clipped it to my belt. Prior to that I experienced a virus attack … on an internet connection at home … which crashed my computer … so I disconnected … and have been using the cafe service since. And then … this. I'll never be able to explain it.
