The Future : A Forecast

Seeing into the Future

I hate doing forecast … too many variables … and nobody takes them seriously anyway … however … I'm reminded that the mind requires a vision … in some way … based on its new found realizations … to see into new possibilities … and bring itself to rest on its anticipations about life. The forecast then forms the basis of the axiom … that we rely on to stabilize our views … and to amend it as needed in the times ahead.

I don't believe any prediction about the next 250 years would be new. I expect that it will be a re-consolidation of all that we have been doing … the last 250 years. Its certainly been true of the Indic experience. The Gupta experience … in circa 250 bce … raised the Indic experience to Shankaracarya in 750 bce. From there it moved the Indic experience to 1250 bce… through a period of money politics … that ended with the break of Siva from Sakthi. Thereafter the sub-continent saw the advent of Sri Rangga … the human experiment … till 1750 bce … when Indic culture broke from its long association with its native birth … and merged with the Brits … and thereafter the Americans … as the world experience.

The last 250 years therefore has been … a period of trial and error … in which we converted from the provincial to the worldly. The effort continues today … with the attempts at evolving human thought … and individual initiatives. This is expected to continue at this time … as an advancement into ' Naming ' … that refers to an initiative among my child's generation … to bring a name … to the new experiences … they are engaging … with some teen enthusiasm for satire.

Further on … our children will find it difficult to hold on to anything resembling the discipline of work … thus ushering in … a period of ' Part-timer ' … that involves a re-organization of working hours by employers … to half a day each day … or work from home … and to rotate staff … around the 9-5. Beyond the period … in my grandchildren's lives … the practice of ' Homeperson ' is expected to evolve … with the men opting to stay at home … and take care of the kids.

These would bring us to the year 2100 bce … where we are expected to realize the much touted … freedom of the individual … which I'd like to call ' Scotory ' … as an experience of Scott Fitzgerald's enlightenment of the issues. Thereafter the ' Arts ' is expected to help us deepen our involvement of the living experience … in turn leading to the ' Discovery ' … a reference to understanding the epistemology of knowledge … and the way it forms an experience of intelligence … in the human condition.

Close to 2200 bce … man is expected to understand his role in the creation process. I'm naming it ' Genome ' in reference to our contributions … and to the on-going research today … into genetic science. Moving on from there … I figure the West will move onto a new set of pillars regarding faith … that I'm calling 'Wen ' … as a variation of the experience of Zen Buddhism. A realization of ' Zeitgeist ' is expected to follow the experience at the beginning of 2300 bce … accompanied by man's ability to cultivate ' Visions ' at a personal level … with intimations of the universal creation endeavor.

Close to 2400 bce Asians are expected to adopt a new faith … too long in the stew … and they are expected to make the change from the mammoth of past beliefs into … ' Gorth ' … that's a concept that evolves the ideas of creation from the stars … past the Gods … and into a mix with the qualities of the earth. And that's as far as I go into the forecast.

Obviously much more can be worked on … based on the general principles outlined above … on the social cultural. ' Naming ' may influence designer styled fashion … using metaphysical concepts as names … instead of the designer. ' Part-timer ' will solve pressures on unemployment … reduce traffic … and create a sharing attitude at work. In much the same way … ' Homeperson ' will resolve gender issues … and raise the possibilities … for closer personal management.

' Scotory ' will heal the political environment … and improve relations between government and its people. A greater creativeness in the engagement of the mind in society is expected to accompany ' Arts.' With ' Discovery ' I figure every major varna group in the world will affirm their own story of life with reference to existing texts. ' Genome ' is expected to take place primarily in the mind … but whether it may involve laboratory techniques is unclear.

' Wen ' is a new way of looking at the world around us … as an advancement of the way we engage our intelligence in future years. The affirmation of the ' Zeitgeist ' has had a long wait in the pipeline and is expected to receive an enthusiastic welcome … as man comes to a greater sense of belonging. With intelligence comes 'Visions ' which speeds up thinking … and enjoys the confidence of the passions. ' Gorth ' or some variation in name … would bring considerable relief to Asians today … as they deal with the changes to their faiths.

In making the list … I was struck by how easy it is to make such forecast. It takes some focus … and some support from reviewing present trends in society. The contribution I make may be in the way … I view each development … and understand how long that might take to grow … and in the way that it combines with other congruent trends to work. I discovered the ' Gorth ' when putting this together … and understand why every man has to undertake the discovery himself. Peace be with Gorth.
