Chap 12 : The Life of a Potato

Those accustomed to logical reasoning … will get a kick … out of this. The potato plant starts with a potato … cultivates shoots that feed off the potato … and then produces … a new batch of potatoes from its roots. Its like the chicken and egg story obviously. How for instance ... do we journey for a thousand miles ... then return to the start ... and make sense of our experience.

Science carefully avoids the controversial areas of human experience … citing its subjective nature … and the difficulties in creating an objective measure … of its observations and findings. Specifically … science relies on the rule of cause and effect … where it is able to isolate the specific cause … that led to a certain effect … and is able to do so in situations … where there are no other known influencing factors.

Thus far science agrees to the cyclical nature of creation … where the apocalypse brings everything back to void … and then regenerates itself. However thus far … makes no reference to how the conditions attendant on the previously existing universe … may have an influence to the new one. What they have offered as possible … is the incredible distances between galaxies … and the time it takes for light to travel. For instance … we continue to receive light from stars … that have long gone into supernova.

Theoretically … in a future civilization … if man were to locate that on a planet furthest away from earth in the universe … it is possible that when we emerge from an apocalypse … we may continue to receive the light from the solar system … including other particles … such as waves … ions … magnetic impulses.

The story is not very different with regards to the human experience. Do we retain a remnant of the lives on earth … like a Noah's Ark … when we advance into future civilizations … and then perhaps to reproduce them from a certain creative matter like a cosmic egg? As a discipline … science is bound by is conventions … to refer to only measurable results. However for the living man … the imperative of survival exceeds normal considerations of documentation … and man is driven to discern these possibilities himself.

As we grapple with the issues of the globalization experience … and the outcomes of the information explosion … we are placed in a position of being our own scientist … theologian … priest … in relation to our own experiences of the creative energies in us. Did man invent himself? That question can't be too far away from the possibilities we come to perceive in our experiences.

In the possible case of the potato … the fruit was first created and then the plant grew from that … after destroying the first potato. Did we do something similar in the experience of man. Create ourselves in astral bodies … create the earth … plant … animals … and then diminish the experience of the astral … to emerge as man in the physical? And thereafter … to heal the injuries to the astral bodies?

Our insight into these matters … creates such possibilities … but as science would claim … we need to test that in our bodies … while we live … and form a basis of ascertaining to our satisfaction … that it is so. We would know ourselves … and in that … we may come to know the self.
