Form and Non-Form

Form and Non-Form

The Odds & Bits Series : III

In an understanding of life … and … in the quest for awareness of the self … a person comes to many paradoxes and contradictions. Of these … none is more consuming … in thought … than the notion of form and non-form. The study of this … is the most argumentative aspect … of the efforts at self realization … and involves practices … that places the student in the center of the controversy … by their very life and living experience. At heart is the issue of what is the substance or element … that makes up the experience. This constitutes … the content … or material of the form or non-form.

To say that the task is difficult … is like saying … geese fly. But like anything we encounter in life … the view by the spectator … is always different … from the actual living experience … of the person engaging it. And while much may be reported of the discoveries … in the experience … it is never possible to share the experience of … knowing. That is a condition of experience … in the mind and soul … of the practitioner.

A physical and conscious experience … comes to be viewed … with a new urgency … in the world's experience today. Very few people … in these times … would take someone else's word … with regards to the issues communicated. Even when we do … it is always received through the senses of the perceiver … and represents in that way … a different experience … peculiar only to the perceiver. Quite often … he names it after himself.

But such is the way … we view all our experiences in the world. In the wide open experience … of the web … school … work … and the social milieu … we take or adapt our experiences … with regards to what exists … the way a son … may take to the father. In that sense … we do bring an experience of the filial … to the world.

In the Greek experience … the Romans next door … brought forth an experience so similar … to each other … that historians in general … have carefully avoided calling the Romans copy cats. Yet in relation to the Greeks … the Romans have brought an activity of governance to the world … that may match the effort of the Greeks … or even top it. Who's to say … how knowledge of the world … is received … perceived … and then brought into application?

In the experience of the global village … we today … come to the claims of imitation … and quite often find a befuddled nature … in us … which we defend ... that is reminiscent of such an experience. Indic legends refer to the story of Vasudeva … who listened in to the teachings … of the guru Sandipani who was instructing his son … and thereafter brought the knowledge of self realization to the Indic experience. Who or where the guru Sandipani was … is lost in antiquity … and Indics generally refer to such knowledge … as from God.

The world's experience today … brings a collection of many things … and a clever person … could cut and paste … a considerable part of the knowledge of things into a useful model … for self reference … of possibilities. Its a place to start. Thereafter the individual may reach out … to found his own self realized knowledge of things. Its the way of the world.
