Man TodayA Story by DayranThe Quick Study Series : IIIWhat does a man fear most regarding his association with society. I figure its the fear of being labelled ' old fashioned.' Its a terrible feeling to think we are being left behind … even worse is the thought that we are losing contact with people. Wouldn't it be curious to figure how the fashion idea got started?
Indic yogis are found of telling their audience … that in a container of milk … there's the potency of yoghurt … then butter. In much the same way … they then refer to the content of the eros nature in the human … and say it has the potency for many things. In effect … it means that the eros content itself … is capable of experiencing lifelike qualities … and influences one's heart and mind … for the things it wants to achieve.
Its like a child … stimulating the body and mind … to dream … and then to follow through with the imagination of possibilities. However when it is disengaged from activity … and the thoughts of possibilities … it produces a poignancy in its nature … that comes to be viewed by others as … a forlorn nature … melancholic … even self pity where self pity is joy itself.
Its a highly self sufficient experience … combining in its collection … the universal nature of dreams … its sense perceptions … feelings … intelligence … and physical activity. It adopts the mind, heart and body into its entourage … much like a Venus … who brings a Pan, Athena, Herakles, Ares etc. into her association. And that is the way that these experiences are stored in us … from the ancient days … at the very foundation of our poignancy.
We manage that in several ways today … depending on our orientation to society … and personal preferences. It makes for a useful manner of public speaking … and for referring to others … in a socially acceptable manner. A son having problems with his father … may refer to the relations between Zeus and Herakles … in his feelings … and draw some lessons from there. It is the only respite for the son … as he cannot bring himself to speak of these things to someone else.
However the burden of responsibilities sometimes weighs heavily on the poignancy … transforming it to melancholy … and attention seeking. In the social environment we encounter today … where relationships can be short-term … and quickly changing … the old attitudes no longer help to maintain friendships … and we are left facing the wall … for new ideas.
When we are there … at the wall … we might want to consider the nature of poignancy … and to stop beating up on ourselves for not being happy … or to constantly seek activities to stay occupied. We can find out for instance … that its the nature of the human tissue and flesh and no amount of cajoling will change its nature. We can regulate it and draw it into the little things in life … and that is definitely not old fashioned. © 2013 Dayran |
