The Arts ... Human Improvisation

The Tatie of Nymphs Series : IX

"

Saddam Hussein came to power in Iraq … and invited his closest supporters to dinner one day.  After dinner he brought out ten men … transported from the local jail … paraded them in front of his guests … explained his problems with trust … his responsibilities to the state … his eagerness to prevent a chaos … then had them shot in the back of their heads where they stood.

It reminds us of the barbaric times that we come from. Humanity's view of the event … would apply the universal axiom to its review … and find that leadership in a political organization and administration is conferred certain entitlements … ostentatiously for the greater good. What the Americans refer to as 'collateral damage.'

Leadership in the home … on the part of the father … must leave behind such entitlements of the workplace. It reasons with the children … plays a role that gets past the wilfulness of the male imperative of the sons … and shows a greater strength in reason … awareness … the subtle and the normal rules of compassion. A son who avoids the father's high-handedness in his own preparation for fatherhood … comes to such an ambition in life.

The legendary Thor … as father … is perceived to have kept down … his children's wanton thoughts by hammering it down when it arose. The rational appears to be … that they ought to declare their own will in the homes they will set up. In retaliation sometimes … the sons often seek something in the opposite of what their own father was. They make great efforts to rediscover their male nymph identity ... relate to the wife that way … and treat their own children as ' adults.'

In Indic society … such a son … with the corroboration of Western views … finds himself on a journey of discovery of his role as father … amidst the lush settings of traditions … conventions … and the ready availability of the perceptions of cosmology. Its the heritage of the Indic children as Asians.

The father's role therefore combines an appreciation of dreams and physical reality … to include a balance … what is past in our dreams … that may come in the future … and the impeccable view that comes to define what happens in this life. To fulfil the role … he goes back to examine the ways of his father … relate to his achievements … and where the need arises … to forgive him and take on his sins … to be lived in a filial responsibility of the social identity as Indic. He stops double-dealing.

He sometimes discovers in such a journey that the roots run deep … all the way to Saddam and beyond … to the empire builders of the past both Indic and of the world … who gave us a stable social infrastructure … and introduced us to the civilization idea. The fact is by the time he learns this … his children would have grown up and are running their own families. Still the lesson is useful … as self motivation.
