Humility and the ClownA Story by DayranThe Tatie of Nymphs Series : VThe self created nature of life meets its greatest ally in the most unlikely place. As collaborator … friend … love interest … and the only true witness … to man's ingenuity … and the engagement of the human mind in the creative process … we rely on … the clown. On the occasions when he visits with us … he turns into straw every thought … idea … concept … that we hold to be dear in our understanding. However a closer examination proves to be very revealing.
He's been with us since the beginning … and will stay for all time. He's come to be called several names … the great kidder … clown … the denier … devil … Lucifer … and so forth. However the fact is … he represents a simple truth … of the axiom … in the way the mind comes to take thoughts. He represents himself as the constant … always existing phenomenon of creation … and he does that by the very nature of the life forces to maintain a continuity. To those less informed it appears like trickery.
Curiously he is also the only one in creation who truly loves and brings a great compassion to all living beings. Like everything in creation … this is the specialization of his role … to hold to a constant factor that is not destroyed at the time of the apocalypse. He does this by disengaging from mind … and represents himself as the void from which all things emanate.
In the world's cultures … he presents himself … as magic … and as our sense of wonder … represented by the image of the dragon … as a mix of many things. He is able to do these things by the simple relation between ' knowing ' and ' not-knowing.' Each time we encounter such a union of opposites … it arises to reveal its magical sense of wonder … and in the process causes our knowledge to fall.
In viewing the situation closer … we come to the realization that … it is not knowledge that falls … but the individual who claims ' to know. ' By implication … this comes to be viewed in our social natures as the ' pride or vanity in knowing ' … and not without some sense that such a knowledge is only known by ' me ' … or that ' I'm ' the one who found such knowledge. Its such a pride that takes the fall.
In traditional learning systems … especially those systems that dwell into life and death … creative energies … and God … the student is advised to cultivate a decorum regarding such learning that encompasses considerable humility. Knowledge with humility … such is the motto with regards to real learning.
This should not be confused with our social design for rewarding achievers as part of the societal build of infrastructure. Here an individual is rewarded with trophies … money … fame … and reputation … as part of the encouragement undertaken to continue contributing to society. Real learning brings to the student … the knowledge of self … including a natural dignity … a stable confidence … an absence or lack of defenses … and a calm temperament.
In such a state of mind we meet the real clown … behind the clown … the Adonais … the father of the muses. The child … who relates to our temperament and brings into play … in a profound place and experience … the intrinsic qualities of life … so simple that its confusing … yet will allow the man to learn of its personality … with humility. © 2013 Dayran |
