The Purely Abstract

In the past two days I have been in such a preoccupation with the purely abstract that I've been missing meals and am totally disorganized with respect to my ideas. Its the realm of the creative forces and its not kind to the orderly experience of human thought. Much of these are undocumented by science or legends and its been my practice to avoid such areas where possible. No such luck today I'm afraid.

The purely abstract appears to exist like a potency of everything in creation. It's the past, present and future … its the thought and action … it has form and no form and it is entirely timeless … with no reference to an age or human experience that it is related to.

But on closer examination it is possible to identify an individual form in its experience much like the human male. This has some reference to the concept of the progenitor who is the source of all things in creation. It is not unlike the qualities of the human individual … the mind, passions and the reproductive energies.

It was apparently there at the beginning of time and today, in my experience, he appears to be checking out the progress of human understanding and the consistency of such progress with the original plan. I've had some familiarity with this individual from my younger days. I used to refer to him as the regulator of our experiences of the mind … he draws the boundaries … regulates the pace of our experiences … and most importantly he guides us to where we want to go.

On this occasion I'm being guided to relate to my experience of the world as an individual. In these past years I've come to a relation with the creative energies and to some extent am able to relate to the way the creation plan includes me and the way its been working with me. This has involved considerable learning on my part and we are here at some point of understanding with regards to where it might be leading me.

Where I am today is sitting here in my room, smoking my cigarettes and drinking coffee. It would be nice to refer to some research on this though or someone who is into something similar in their experiences. For now … I figure I'm at the edge of something … it appears plausible that the purely abstract leads quite naturally into the realm of pure imagination … and a new lesson in differentiating human imagination from progenic imagination …  I'm feeling my age today ...

Aha, I had a feeling that these "abstractions" could capture a mind of contemplation, and I must say that they have captured mine in its entirety, in waking and asleep life, (yes I had a dream this afternoon that a friend had a shard of something, and it's annoying me that I can't remember what he called it, but it was definitely along the lines of abstract. There is no way, simply or complex, to describe this shard. I'd imagine that the vivid nature of the shard shall become easier to portray perhaps the more knowledge I gain from your ideas.)

I too understand where you are coming from as regards to the abstract as being almost, if not physical. We shall have to take the literal definition of the word with a "pinch of salt" as I believe the idiom goes. The word is indeed perplexing, perhaps paradoxical in its nature, for it is an attempt to describe the indescribable; wholly contradictory in nature, yet rather ingenious. We can thank Latin in that respect I'd imagine.

To compare the abstract to other undefinable forms is genius on your behalf, you perfectly portray forms which one can understand: 'the mind, passions and the reproductive energies.'. To have no apparent form yet to be so irrefutably real, is the ode to the abstract's inconsequential nature.

I understand that the personification is metaphorical, but it poses me to think; without form nor a yet-understandable state, is it fully out of the equation that the abstract could be conscious? Furthermore, the idea that you put forward about how the abstract is perhaps "watching"; overseeing our performance and advancement, is one I have had myself indeed, but at the time of conception, I was not thinking the way I do now and of course, in all-due-respect, not as open-mindedly, nor did I have such a great thinker with works expressing ideas in an intelligent way to push thought further. But I would ask you; do you refer to a deity of a kind and its workings within all of us?

You say you are "being guided", and that I find very interesting. As I'm sure you are aware, I was myself; my physical embodiment and all unauthentic values, and I began to write. And then I met Tim, and I understand it seems odd personifying this...this...let us go with alter-ego for the moment, and from that very moment of his creation (be it his own, my own, or abstract's own creation), I have changed, and am now only truly authentic to this new...split persona in life as it were. Again I am enamoured through your writing, and am beginning to understand why. 'the way the creation plan includes me and the way its been working with me'. This sticks with me so very much, I understand I really do. The creative energy, perhaps the same as imagination (although I can perceive a difference, one produced through the mind and the other a force with no comprehensible physics), is felt, henceforth why I feel writers block sometime is so. Some would say it's due to experiences gained or not gained throughout a day or for other reasons, but writers block can be overcome, and I have taught myself that over time. Perhaps you would agree that it is possible to harness the creative energy? I'd imagine so: 'I've come to a relation with the creative energies'.

'It would be nice to refer to some research on this though or someone who is into something similar in their experiences..'. Well. Allow me to describe my position and my surroundings at this precise present: Sitting here in my room, smoking roll-up cigarettes, but drinking green tea, reviewing works from a respectable intellectual, who captures my imagination, fascination and forthright admiration, through concepts and ideologies of pure genius. My friend. In justified true-belief as far as I can permit, I would say that this is more than what you and I both perceive it to be at this time. I think the abstract deserves to be extended upon, for the abstract is...yes...is. I think you do an injustice saying that 'the purely abstract leads into the realm of pure imagination', I believe they coincide together; a fusion of force and force; a sperm and egg situation. But what form could be given birth? For sperm is but simple cells, evolved through billions of years to achieve an oh so important task, so to is the egg. To compare: if the birth of the abstract was at the birth of all, and so too was imagination, then are we are the created form? Or are we but a figment of a fused concept, spread out across a vast plain of intertwined energy?

With that, I'm off to bed. I believe I shall not sleep tonight; only contemplate. But I have you to thank for that, and that is not sarcasm. Dayran. Respect, my oh so...abstract, companion. I think you may, or may not have just sub/un/consciously recruited a member of the abstract, into the abstract.

Goodnight my friend.

Timothy.
