A Charmed LifeA Story by DayranThe Rock of Norm Series : IIThe Indic pay special deference to a star they have named ' Sukra,' translated as Venus. In astrological studies, they atribute the experience of a ' charmed life ' on the benevolent infuences of this star. He is the panache of the bullfighter, the sugar coated arrows of the lover, the leader everybody loves and the virtual sunshine of our lives. And he does it all with the clumsy ease of butterfingers.
Some aspect of this comes to visit everyone in their youth. Poets still sing the praises of such an experience, delighted in the marvelous sense of activity it brings to us … with the conviction that something this good couldn't possibly be wrong.
Something … someone … some foul dust … comes to horribly mutilate such a condition and turn it to a cruel and unusual mutation that resembles gargoyles on rooftops. It turns the sweet smiles of cherubs into the self-possessive Machiavellian labyrinths of masochistic nightmares that becomes its new delight.
Its bizarre. Its astounding in the way it threatens all of the good nature of life … perhaps too much … so much so that the men of learning … the poets ... have come to view it … with a pinch of humor. A Buddhist novice monk who quits one master to join another group is scolded by his new master for not appreciating the ' grandfatherly kindness ' of his former instructor.
It is a grotesque experience in life to come to encounter the notion that what a person did with some ' playacting and teaching ' has been contorted by others into an accusation of lunacy and malefic influence. It is heart wrenching … even harder on one's loved ones … to see the condition the fine man of ' Sukran ' youth diminish into something empty.
Isn't there a standard of norm to these matters that helps recover and define the issues … makes it clear to everyone? Yes there is … and we are at this time walking its boulevards in search of a way we can come to consensus on the issues. Its a nice view though … and learning experience … until we get there. © 2013 Dayran |
