A Seasonal SkyA Story by DayranThe Complete News Series : VIIIThe seasons bring about tremendous changes to our experiences under the dome of the world. It is the face of our moods and defines the nature of our work and thoughts in the course of a year. One of the early names given to the sky was ' Canopus.' It gave meaning to a tinge of gloom we all came to experience after our experiences of the stars.
Today, after an accumulated experience of 'Canopus‘ over the ages, the man who comes to experience the powerful and illuminating light of the stars would reckon that they have become somewhat diminished in these times.
There are several reasons for this. Education and learning has brought considerable illumination of its own to our experience of the world. Caesar is poetically perceived to have remarked in Shakespeare's play that (adapted)' a man's destiny is not written in the stars but in the knowledge of his will.'
The quality of Canopus is a curious one. In our lightness of being it brings a dose of pepper to spice it up. It substitutes for a real concern by a breezy communication on the weight of issues. It views from afar by an overview of the nature of human activities but may miss on many of the details. Society, by the nature of our open and transparent discussion on issues does the natural selection of adopting such a man as a natural leader.
The situation brings me back to my own family where my father enjoyed a respectful decorum from the neighbours and colleagues for always speaking with some semblance of the grasp of the issues. But as we kids advanced in our learning and came to a finer grasp of knowledge, my father was starting to feel just slightly left out in the home. We gravitated thereafter to my mother.
On a particularly gloomy evening he had threatened to walk out on the family. My fate has not been dissimilar but in a consensual decision with the family, I had left to be out on my own. It’s been about 8 years. The kids these days bring issues to the home adults have never dealt with before.
Yes … I figure I had been playing with Canopus to appear concerned about issues. It is the skid on the tyres of overwrought concerns. Today I bring a carefully studied orientation to matters and I am gratified by the extra effort I have been making. We learn something new all the time.
