An Ordinary Life

Everybody needs a way of looking at themselves, their society, the nation and the world they are living in. Such a way would presume a wit to the view. In describing the last decade a person may well coin the term a ' sewer rose ' particularly in taking into account what everyone feared as the notoriously odorous gay issue and how that brought us past the will of chauvinism.

For anyone to suggest that a man is always self-sufficient may come as a surprise to many. But we add a condition to the remark to qualify that such a self-sufficiency may be known or unknown to the individual. Hence the genius or brilliance of men remains a moot point in our lives.

Our legends tell us the story of the eaglet that was rescued by a farmer. He raised it with his chickens but kept pointing it to the sky. One day when it was grown, it spread its wings and took off. Certainly in recent times we experienced ourselves as something else.

At our best moments we come to an intimation of life's incredible possibilities. We see it as bright as day. The experience leaves us somewhat nonplussed and wishing that we can rework the past or change what we used to think.

The literature on this is considerable. Cerberus at the gates of the pit by the pituitary gland in the anaerobic experience tries to help. Some smoke and mirrors perhaps? The mysterious flutist in the bile swamp with his penchant for drama attempts to steer us in another direction. Where we succeed we call the blue moth apparition Vyaasa's Krishna or Cameron's Avatar.

In some situations we may come to lose the possession of our direct straightforwardness, but hey, ' you gotta live a little muchacha.' It points to a long journey of discovery. As Indic it has taken my society about 2,000 years since the fall of the Mauryan empire to return to a life of simplicity away from the hydra of contortion.

But I can't complain … the scenery has been great, the cars fast, the girls hot, the tobacco dry, the coffee bitter and my gun is smokin' … Believe it or find out yourself.
