Believe It Or Find Out Yourself : PrologueA Story by DayranThere's a propensity on the part of logical thinking to include a part of one's personality in the expectations of logic. Such a part dwells on the issue of being transparent, implying that if there was some new piece of knowledge, someone is bound to make it known to the world. Where there is no such communication, it is assumed that the perceptive insights we now engage in are entirely true.
And why would anyone want to hide knowledge from others? Isn't knowledge itself ultimately latent in the mind and will in due course become common knowledge to all?
Shakespeare referred to Othello as being honest and was given to the virtues of honesty so much so that he never believed anyone would choose to be dishonest . But it's not dishonesty that hides new knowledge … it may well be due to a culture of non-transparency, born of an intimacy that shies from too bright a light. This is not unusual. People shy away from public view all the time. Old age that takes away youthful beauty, a need for privacy, uncertainties, tentative natures and peculiar bias … these are all factors that cause us doubt before speaking of things.
But then again how transparent are we as a society? As a norm we clothe ourselves, cultivate individual qualities and only engage in the familiar on issues. In coming to understand ourselves better we are dependent on a gradual growth of knowledge through the years. We adapt and change.
It occurs to us that despite all our discoveries to-date we are yet unable to say where life comes from or in what shape and form it exists in the body. The early Greeks intimated that it may be born of enthos implying that enthusiasm creates and sustains the life force. Indic studies point to nine lives or nine parts of life in what is referred to as the flame. They claim that its born of desire.
Science separates life into aerobic and anaerobic life and life forms. The previous relies on oxygen to breathe, the latter does not. There's an implied understanding that our voluntary and waking hours are managed by the aerobic factors and the sleep and involuntary activities are managed by the anaerobic. That would beg the logic that man shares his life with a tech-like machine that is unlike human. True? … Believe it or find out yourself. © 2013 Dayran |
