Berkeley referred to knowledge as ' having it to apply it.' This applies to the suggestion that knowledge should be useful, that it should serve a cause, such as survival, form societies and advance the experience of human civilization. A form of knowledge that does not apply itself at this time is viewed as dream, imagination or conjecture. It is unproven. It will not convince anybody of its truth.

The process of thinking takes place in two ways. The tissues of the brain can as it were form thoughts. Thereafter it would need to form the image of a person to whom it attributes such thoughts. This is a subjective process. However that person that the tissues of the brain formed as image can, with effort, come to live the life himself. Thereafter he engages himself as the object of the subjective process and responds as an individual.

Pinnochio comes alive in the classic book by Colladi but finds that he lacks heart. Even as the object we continue to borrow from the subjective process the passions because our mind can only produce emotion with vanity and self love. It doesn't yet truly come to love another.

These two pinnacles in the individual experience are each a sovereign factor in the workings of the mind and heart. We name them as ' Two Kings.' In the growing experience, the King of the subjective remains pretty much the same, but the King of the objective grows by leaps and bounds. Eventually he leaves behind the experience of king and founds the democratic convention. Here at last is the opportunity to build upon his passions.

In completing the cultivation of himself as the democratic representative of the objective, the individual realizes in his experience the value of research and study, scientific methodology, social and family relations and ultimately the actualization of the individual. Its a much sought after eperience that enhances the quality of life and adds to our growing capability and sustaining of our survival possibilities.

Is that important? It ought to be! And this is the great labor brought to our doors by the forces of creation and the play it engages to raise our interest on the issues. But the interest it inspires should be just right. Not a fanatical drive for the survival of man but a paced and contented achievement that applies itself steadily on the issues. Gently persistent is the term that might match its resolve.

The persuasion it undertakes may raise itself to having your home destroyed if need be and you are asked to rebuild from scratch, objectively, with you as the object of achievement. I hear people say sometimes, ' had he asked me nicely I might have done it but now … '. I take it that he would beg to differ.
