Notes from The Halls of Freedom: VI

"

I was young and I was growing up with stars in my eyes, daydreaming, cultivating wish fulfilment and testing the limits of love. It was as I recall a matter of curiousity in all things. It wasn't a bad life. I was a teen, hopeful about the promises of the future and figuring somehow that the environment around me was entirely displaced. It didn't belong where I lived.

Right! … today I am looking at that in our lives that never made any sense and it was okay. I never had any complaints about it. It occurred to me later that others might have though. About me I mean. No I wasn't mean … just optimistic.

A part of me still rebels on a daily basis with what I am doing these days … presenting a part of our experiences of the world and the significance that might have to society, family and the individual. It wants to pull away, go camping, do some fishing and catch some scenic sights travelling to places I haven't been before.

PG Wodehouse uses the expression, ' God is on his throne and all is fine with the world.' I wouldn't have agreed more. But alas … the saying, soon to be popular I'm sure, will be ' Darwinism is bound to catch up with you sooner or later.' It caught up with me and like a Webster arguing with the devil, persuaded me that there are more things in heaven than in my imagination.

Half of me is wishing that I didn't know all these things and I might run into someone who'll take care of me while I groom myself daily and look like Prince Valiant. Its true. Frankly I never thought there was a difference between the two. The joy of taking care of someone in the most excellent way is as much being taken care of by someone excellent. They envy each other for it.

I can still imagine though. I can pretend that I'm a half baked country bumpkin who doesn't know Oxford from Oxen and pity the poor folks who chase fame and fortune and figure they're doing something important. Rats! ... No I'm lying … I can't ... some of the stuff we have come to see recently took centuries to work at by people. Today we may well represent the people who finish what began a long time ago.

Right! … do you realize that they built all these particle colliders because there's proton decay and elements undergo change over time. That might mean that the properties of plutonium may change over time and not become unstable in proximity to uranium. Wouldn't that be news?
