The Big Easy

Notes from The Halls of Freedom : V

In the rich, culturally sophisticated world of the siddhi ( improvisational ), a person comes across some curious types that haven't undertaken the slightest effort for self realization their entire lives. But after muddling through about thirty years of moaning and complaining about their life, they wake up one day to the dawn of nyana ( wisdom ).

They'll exclaim the loudest of the glories of God and most of all his mercy. They'll readily admit that they were lost and were like fools in the unmapped hills and yet God reached them and delivered them unto themselves. These are the ' divine madmen ' of the faith whose stories will bring a tear to the listener and tear down the defenses of the obsessed to fill them with light.

These has been the tradition of the ' men of faith ' of the world. However when the experience of the Global Village appeared in the world recently, it sent many of these aspiring Godmen scurrying for shelter in many parts of the world. In an unannounced occasion of ' world time, ' the juggernaut ( wheel of the world ) descended on our societies like the day of Armageddon to lay bare our half-measures. It did it without mercy.

It drove people to rethink what they were doing, hinting that there is a measurable standard with regards to these matters and the continued postponement of our efforts to find them was unacceptable. Even in an age of spin journalism there were newspaper reports of ' biblical ' traces as if of wrath, ' Puranic ' accounts of asuric  ascendencies and elsewhere a general ' loss ' that continues to occupy our attention.

I found it curious that the issues were played down. It certainly doesn't sell newspapers. But more than that it appeared fortuitous to speak of it in an informed manner. The big easy may be over.

It may be too early to call for results. However there appears to be a concession to add a semblance of social order to our perceptions of the divine. It affirms the popular view that the passengers on the juggernaut include the hand of science, the foot of common sense, a swaying girdle and the original books of understanding delivered to man. Kurushetra ( the field of truth ) will never be the same.
