A song among other things is a great filing system. It helps to bring the mind into an engagement of a large number of issues without causing too much strain on the intellect. In addition the theme of the song serves as an admirable reflection of the purpose to which we apply the knowledge of such issues.

For instance, take the song ' Moon River ' by Andy Williams. The theme is that of chasing one's dreams. But where dreams are coming into contact with our experience of physical reality today, it helps to be able to fit that song with the reality we encounter.

A person seeking to cultivate a view of the world is not solely dependent on the public media to draw a picture. We do that ourselves with a part of what we are in our personality. Where we experience the world as a dream in some way, we borrow from the song and name the world itself as ' moon river.' We will cross it someday when we come to understand the world better.

If the distance is wider than a mile, then certainly it is not only our physical strength and capability that will carry us across. The world is a dream maker and its also a heart breaker for the many times we have brought ourselves to contribute to it or to be at one with it in the promises of our dreams.

To all the people in the world we say ' we are chasing the same rainbow.' But somewhere there in another part of the world, we also have a friend, who we expect shares in our dream and the way it unfolds in the world's experience. Together as two drifters in search of adventure, we come to realize that its more than the world, its about the journey of life. With friendship we hope we will come to a greater integration of experience with the world as much as the experience of ' moon river and me.'

Such an experience with regards to knowledge assures us that its about us as humanity not knowledge for its own sake. Such an experience of the song assures us of the attitude we create regarding the world and our identity in relation to it. Each term we have engaged from the song in connection with the world provides us with possibilities of access to more information. For instance, the association with rainbow helps us to identify our views and the views of others as regards our common aim. In viewing it together we bring an attitude that shares a dream and does not create a willfulness of policy.

Nations name a song that defines their national character and they term that as the national anthem. We stand when that is played for the obvious importance it brings to our appreciation of its significance. But a song does not only have to be about patriotism. It can also be about the world, friendships and knowledge. And to serve as an umbrella to our growing sense of mind.
