The Long Arm of DreamsA Story by DayranChronicles of Dreams & Wishes : IThere's considerable research today on dreams but they don't report on its impact to the human condition, leaving it to less scientific insights to deal with the issue. To get some information on that area, a person has to go all the way back to the early Puranas. This was an age when people relied on dreams as an integrated experience of life. Together with the writings of the Australian aborigine of the ' dreamtime ' these literature from long ago create the suggestion that man was moved by dreams. That he came to express them in his experiences of physical reality. But who created such dreams? Where do they come from? Our understanding of these matters today, persuades us that there is a force of creation in us that undertook the initiative of thinking from an early time in the life of man. Today the layman refers to it as the anima instinct and psychology calls it the scopophilia. Evolutionary studies point to the survival orientation of life and its skills at selective adaptation. Human insight into the issue reports on the woman as the basic source of such impulses. This is obviously due to her reproductive function. But speak to any woman about it and a person is only able to discern the convoluted nature of the issue. Perhaps in this, it hides a clue as to its nature. The nature of passions relies on its own intrinsic understanding of issues for its survival. Such tendencies are highly individualistic and will not share their secrets with others. And despite their revelation of themselves at some instances, they seldom allow for the individual to come to a conscious understanding of its processes. This protects itself from the excesses of man's vanity and ambitions. Human insight discerns these issues and in doing so it sometimes creates the greatest disservice to it. It unites two opposites by its role, that which cannot be united by the conditions we experience in the world. This leads to an exorbitant delusion that takes place in the mind of man but is not a threat to the normal course of nature. This tendency is the greatest hurdle in a life of self realization. It leads the individual to the greatest blunders and the loudest foolishness. However, in reflecting on the experience we realize that we did it in innocence and in association with our dreams. Right then does the man find the door to the secret of dreams.
