Zombie's Night OutA Screenplay by DayranFables from The Quick Brown Fox : X( A scene at the discotheque of the Club. )
Lazy Dog : ( in a stern voice ) He's coming tonight and I don't want you to say anything.
Brown Fox : As if I have! … he's your best friend, the least I can do is to be honest about him. So how's the zombie doing?
Lazy Dog : ( grimaces ) He's all right! Oops! Here he comes.
Best Friend : ( a tall lanky man approaches them then bends down to pat Lazy Dog ) I missed you pal … how're you doing?
(Lazy Dog licks his face. He rubs on Lazy Dog's neck and they follow him to the disco. After he had found a table, they settle down on the carpet next to him.)
Best Friend : ( runs his fingers over Lazy Dog's fur ) Byron used to say that ' the path to hell is laid with good intentions.' That has never been more true than at this moment. I've screwed up my friend.
( Lazy Dog whines a little.)
Best Friend : I lost my mother's savings on bad investments. I lost my job because my predictions went wrong and I lost you because the ex-wife took you back and then accommodated you here at the Club. What else can go wrong?
Gentleman : Want to dance buddy?
Best Friend : ( turns to look ) Sorry … but you've got the wrong person.
Gentleman : In a perfect world that's just not possible.
Best Friend : ( in a rising voice ) Don't make promises you can't keep.
Gentleman : ( brushes aside the protests ) I'm unemployed … and I'm looking for my father. You look like you could do with a fresh start. We could make that happen here.
( Lazy Dog barks an approval. Best Friend starts to have doubts.)
Gentleman : Can I sit down? … I didn't bring anyone.
( Best Friend waves the Gentleman to the chair.)
Gentleman : So … have you seen any good movies lately?
Best Friend : ( ponders ) Just one … it should be titled ' Paradise Lost and Found ' but they haven't given a story to it yet.
