"

Fables from the Quick Brown Fox : I

"

( A scene in the drawing room of a posh club that caters only to private membership. )

Brown Fox : I know what you are thinking.

Lazy Dog : Why don't you tell me?

Brown Fox : You think nobody can get to you. You figure you are getting away Scot free without having to account for your actions.

Lazy Dog : Well nobody has brought a legitimate complaint. They rant about generalities without reference to a specific issue.

Brown Fox : And that draws the world's sympathies to your cause and they stifle the complainant?

Lazy Dog : That's it. And worse they bring a reckless action to bear on me and cause me injury. Eventually the world responds with a military action and rounds them up. And that's why I said I won't die alone.

Brown Fox : And if there was something specific and coherent?

Lazy Dog : I'll be sure to act on it. I'd just like to know if there something I'm doing that's wrong.

Brown Fox : Meaning that you practice a self regulation of your actions in the world.

Lazy Dog : Certainly. You do believe that don't you?

Brown Fox : I never doubted that for a moment. Your label as ' man's best friend ' is earned the hard way.

Lazy Dog : Well I'm glad we got that cleared up. I was starting to feel you don't trust me.
