Musings with Old Friends : XV

The notion that the universe engages itself in a play with the creative energies only came into the ken of human understanding recently. No doubt it is a feature of the mind and the passions themselves. The civilization idea is what brought it on after man overcame his primal fear of the unknown, diseases, inferiority complexes and our experience of social and physical catastrophes.

However in engaging such an outlook in us we need to be watchful for the excesses of the passions and the vain ambitions of reason. It is possible to see the play for what it is, as a process of helping man to understand his world and self nature.

The 80s and satellite communication first brought on the experience of such possibilities. It made the world smaller. It is what we want and certainly we have been showing great haste of favor in pursuing such possibilities. Essentially it has put us in contact with the very forces of the creative endeavor that we used to view from a distance and refer to the guides of the priest, teachers and prophets for working the relation.

One must create an appreciation for the great anxiety of the mind in our present encounter. It has been the dream of ages and yet it is totally devoid of guide, leaving it to us as layman to take it up to refine. The mind does go into shock and the passions develop an indifference to deal with the anxiety and the explainable. It may explain our fascination and attraction to the suggestions of X files.

The guides in the process play many roles depending on the outlook of the individual. Inevitably the individual's initial responses are as that of the child in encountering something quite unmanageable. Stories of alien abductions, visitors from other stars, intimations of God, visions and voices are all ways in which our guides communicate with us. Its a start. The experience is a prolonged exercise in creating familiarity and acceptance.

Of the many approaches, the voices and the visions are the ideal sort that is delivered to a relatively stable individual. They have an order in their engagement. They deal with a person's fears, then they lead on to new suggestions, then they create a basis for the strange and unusual, thereafter they refine it and eventually persuade the individual to relate their experiences to daily life. They encourage the individual to be coherent about his experiences and to refer that to existing knowledge.

Taking it a step at a time is all. It does grow.
