The Cetus of Proximity

Its an issue that has been mentioned by many writers, each attempting to speak of that strange but natural sense of proximity that we bring to bear in our mind and passions. The bards of the Western legends referred to the sea monster, Cetus as coming to consume Andromeda. In the ' Little Mermaid,' Hans Christian Andersen referred to the many armed octopus, again in an attempt to convey this proximity experience.

More recent attempts include Carlos Castaneda who referred to his mentor Don Juan as talking about the passions' proximity sense as a many armed attachment to the base of the stomach. The hankering of the proximity sense in the body, denied other company for a period, may cause the experience of ' voices ' that we seem to hear. Further studies in this would certainly be helpful.

The heart of this issue, in the engagement of love, passion and our dearest wishes arises from the innate understanding in our hankering of the passions for us to reunite with everything and the world and to experience the true nature of our oneness. This issue may take much longer to achieve than most people realize.

Closer to home is the issue of how the proximity sense relates to the child's divisions in his conscious awareness of his environment. That's the way that it divides into father, mother, brother, sister and then the external environment. This does go on, even at a later age, if the individual does not return to diminish its dividing vigor. At this time, the individual seeks to reunite and rediscover his relations as one with the world.

It may be relevant at this time to speak of the many esoteric body sheaths that a man experiences through the workings of the cakras, or nerve centers. However this is a specialized field that may take a trained person to provide a guide on. The point we make here is that the proxima sense enhances attachment when young but may inhibit the mind's ability at a later stage. Its understanding helps us grow as an individual.
