Musings with Old Friends : VIII

"
I knew him as the Grump when I first experienced my psychological difficulties. Years later and today I know him as the ' Thevan " which may translate in the conventional Indic application as God but its not quite. A Thevan experience in a human is an application a person would refer to as ' of God.' And he is the one who believes in love and in the all consuming aspects of love as in ' love makes the world go round, it is love that created the universe ' ... and so forth.

His relationship with the human is simply founded on that one fact. As the human we are asked to prove to him that our reasoning affirms the part of love in creation and in our lives. Its what a person comes to discover when he brings his reason into contact with the passions.

Children do that all the time. In viewing this an adult with his reasoning may realize what it is that he has to do more. Only when the adult experience raises his experience of reasoning to an aspect of self pride does he create the conditions to block himself from the experience of a child. He grows distant and quite often runs into the pathless winds of ambition and regret. But he doesn't yet understand the simple truth of the situation. He needs to be a child again or simply to understand where he is coming from.

From the lofty heights of achievement, a returning native has much to divide himself with the playfulness of children. He is apparently real, he is the builder of societies and of the political administration of the country. These are real in his physical experience and is not the early dreams of his child and he is unlikely to allow anybody to make fun at it. Perhaps its why the Kings of old hired a clown to keep themselves earthy.

I have to agree that being retired from active work helps. Still it took me about 7 years to fully leave behind the pride of my career achievements. But does meeting the child again rob a man-of-the-world his achievements? Certainly not! It enhances it and makes of it a far greater reality than what the man knew while at work. The child is quite truly the father of the man.
