This year's Chinese New Year was on Feb 10 to welcome the year of the water snake. It coincided with the Spring Festival yesterday and while driving around my neighbourhood, I spotted several open air altars with the roasted pig offering and fruits. The homes were decorated with red lanterns and the many children with faces of peach innocence greeted me at every corner. It felt like a refreshing dip in a mud pond on a warm tropical night.

I figure the Chinese have been doing something like this  for centuries possibly even before the reported death of the youthful Eros at the hands of the boar on his hunting expedition. It is obviously an experience of the seasons.

In the years following this, they brought the basic animistic intuition of such practices to study and founded Cha'an that evolved into Taoism and then Zen Buddhism. Today Zen is the premier base of understanding of successful Japanese executives who head the corporate achievement in Japan in a background of relative stability.

In the West today, there are fervent indications of a revival of the Eros legends that may express itself in greater relation to the physical nature of reality.  In Greece, they are worshipping Apollo. It's gonna be like the growing experience of a tree in the woods amidst the natural experience of the earth. No doubt the West has brought that into their corporate offices and then into the loft of their homes in a highly successful report of product innovation and thereafter managing the intricacies of finance better than anybody else.

Obviously the reports of obesity problems in their children is being managed to some extent by avoiding the fatty issue of fast foods. In addition, if they can continue the Brit tradition of taming the Viking and getting them to take to the plough, it will no doubt be possible to minimize the bar rage that afflicted the Vikings. It was gold in the food for the Romans.

As I write this at the café, a kid at the next table looks up at me in an unusual experience of coincidence. His eyes are a picture of concern as if to ask, ' so what will cowboy movies be like now? ' Oh ... right ... maybe just a little ... small ... minimal ... trim!
