A Date with a LadyA Story by DayranTales of Resemblances : X
Aeneas travelled all the way from a fallen Troy to a place where he saw seven hills by a river the locals called the Tiber. There he met the illustrious lady Venus and her entourage and sought her help and support to found a great empire there. Apparently his time in Troy had taught him some wonderful lessons for the future of mankind.
His encounter with Venus needs further clarification. There's no doubt that a man who had been living with the Gods at one time in the early experience of Western civilization is unlikely to forget the experience soon. In the lands of the seven hills, Aeneas must have come to rediscover the seven stages of development in the human psyche. And the fact that they all rely on one river to water the surrounding lands.
In trying not to forget, he must have encountered the twin brothers of fight or flee. Aeneas stayed and persevered and eventually ' met the lady ' which according the wonderful paintings showed the beauty of man sitting on a divan with her companions around and the cherubs on the ceiling. Aeneas had bowed. The rest is history.
Rome, beyond the Greek experience, grew to be the centre of Western civilization in the world. They tamed the Germanic tribes, the Bactrians, Huns, Celt and eventually entered Jerusalem at about the time of the Christ. The remainder of the story is told in bible classes around the world.
One man today, travelling that journey again over the centuries on the street where he lives will discover many wonderful insights about himself and the world. More than that he'll come to understand his children and wife. Is there any other way?
In India, the Vedic age was over and the society was moving into Vedanta. There was an obvious struggle and the population had moved out of the Indus and crossed the plains of Kurushetra into the valleys of the Ganges. Both rivers were fed by the range of mountains, called the Himalayas or the roof of the world.
An age later, the Buddha, staying in the lower Ganges was searching for his roots. He undertook then to journey up the Ganges, crossed the Kurushetra and went back to the remnant of the early Vedic kingdom of Kushan. Today, followers of the Buddhist faith read of his journey and attempt to relate that to their own. Some preparation for these studies may be important. Its not like journeying to 7/11 for cigarettes.
