Work as HobbyA Story by DayranTales of Resemblances : I
Its the general perception with men of knowledge that knowledge, in the way that it represents insight into all things, has the power to alter a man's view of work. Where such an alteration reduces the value of work to that of a hobby, it may be surmised he works with less than the full share of attention that the work may deserve. On the contrary, a propensity to work is accompanied by a full heart and mind, finding in the work a service to the creator of man.
Modern management, marketing and the study of economics are the backbone of the production effort in an economy. In that, they share a place with the hand of God in the growth of the world society. In relation to the belief in God one may well ask the question, ' Is God responsible for the trains running on time or is man responsible for ensuring that trains run on time, so that human faith in God is not diminished by the fact that human effort lacks resolve?
The issue is especially significant because faith in connection with love provides a powerful contribution to the way that man comes to exercise his intelligence and will. We come to the perception in such a view that our exercise of mind and heart combines the will of man with that of God in the world.
Therein lies the connection we seek with the work of the divine in the world. We are a part of that will as it prepares the world for a home that is fit for man. In turn it prepares us for the onward continuity of our lives in an advancement of the faculties of the human experience.
At this time, the sky may well be the limit to what man can dream and aspire to achieve. But tomorrow it may be the stars. We may well be at the threshold of a new discovery of the worth of man in the new way in which we come to unite with the God idea. A universe of resources awaits us for our experience, joys and understanding with a heart that knows that it came from hereabouts.
The miracle of creation combines with the mind of man to create a new phase in the life of the world. Is this all that we want for ourselves? Is there more?
