The term may refer to an expression of surprise, anger or as it often is, disbelief. It may in various appelations mean the ' blood of God ' or ' God is sacred, ' where the later term is a cognition of a separation between mortal man and the immortal aspect of God. However in all its variations, it is a profound regret experienced in the deepest seat of one's conscious self.

Such an experience often accompanies the discovery of a fact we had previously dismissed with elaborate disdain. Frequently it refers to the presence of the divine, sometimes the simple and pure intelligence of creation, the wit and genius of women and the special nature of the commonplace experience that is also potentially unique and sophisticated.

It reveals to us the separate qualities of the heart and mind. We come to know of God by an intimation. We appreciate the wit of women by an impulse. We apply ourselves to survival by intuition. We research and record the design of life by observation. Thereafter we convert all these experiences into a manner of knowledge by thoughts.

The difference is discerned by the preoccupation we bring to the issues of equality and commons of the human personality. In order to cherish such thoughts and the communication regarding them, we thereafter raise them into an institution in our lives. This applies to politics, economics and the socio-cultural artefacts in society. We undertake this as a cognition and affirmation of our belief in these matters.

In the event of change, where we encounter what appears like a disbelief, we create denials, distortion of the facts and then may gradually come to accept them. In that we are proving ourselves human and that remains pretty much the same always.
